Canon Selphy 510

I have tried two new ink cartridges and the printer refuses to work. Error message shows cartridge are used up.
Any ideas?
Printer has hardly made 20 prints from new.

Selphy printer CP770. Computer and printer do not give any error sign, paper feed works but no actual printing takes place. Printer stays in the busy mode. If we remove the cartridge the foil shows a new colour after each try but the paper is still blank. The cartridge is brand new and original Canon.

Hi! I have same problem. I opened cover (4 deep screws at the bottom) and found small plastic gear was separated from stepping motor shaft. I fixed it on shaft and my printer started work again. Today I will try to fix same problem on another CP510. I think same reason. Try to do it. Simple. vadim.y.astakhov@gmail.com

Today I found my printer out of order again. I disassembled my second printer. With the same ink error. The small gear was on shaft, but slided to the end of shaft. Anyway I tried to mix both printers on my three PCs and two cameras. I concluded the reason of ink error is bad driver..No good for every PC. With my old notebook with WinXP both printers work ...

Hi,

I have a similar problem saying that the cartridge was not installed. Try winding the film on until you can just see the yellow film and try printing again. This normally fixes my problem for that print run, but the problem seems to regularly re-occur. Hope this helps.

Selphy cp780 continues to say ink cartridge empty even after installing new one. Tried 2 new ones to be certain it wasn't the cartridge, same thing...tells me ink cartridge empty install new.

try and reset your printer, unplug the power cord and wait 10 min, then plug back in,understand that Canon has installed a chip so you cannot use refilled cartridges,or cartridges you refill,if this doesn't work, then contact Canon, and you could get the same message I got take it in to be repaired, (to costly), so I end up buying a new one,,

Ink cartridges cannot be recognized in canon printer

Hello!
Remove the cartridges and gently wipe the cartridge contacts with a dry cloth, then put them back in. Then, hold the "resume" button for 10 seconds for each cartridge, that should reset them.
If that doesn't work, one of your cartridges (sadly) needs to be replaced.

Ink cartridge (not) installed properly

For the Canon iP1800 printer are you sure you're using the 30 for black and 31 for color?

And make sure they "click" when installed. That should confirm that they're nice and tight in their ink compartments.

Besides that, maybe reinstalling the printer drivers could do something?
