I had the same problem with my LG viewty. its so stupid why, you want to kick yourself.
on the perimeter of the screen, you see a tiny gap. in there are the digitizer for the screen. the screen works like a grid, one on the X axis and one on the Y axis. its not a software issue nor a screen. just a design flaw.
get a piece of copier paper. fold it nicely, and use the folded edge, run it in the perimeter of the screen and dig out all the ****, dust, dried sweat out of there. don't dig too deep or use compressed air. just dig it out with the piece of paper. you will see there is a lot of debris lodged in there. once its out, try your phone again and it will work. worked for me. i quickly bought another screen protector and now its my nice backup phone. i bought the sony ericsson X1 because i thought it was totally non usable. i guess not.

but i m very sorry to say that ur touch screen has gone. u just visit ur nearest LG mobile service centre and get it replaced. Very sadly this is the problem observed in LG viewty mobile handset that after using it for one two year(depending on the fequency of touch ofcourse) it goes bad and the only solution available is its replacement. comapnay should have highlighted this issue.
Anyway i think after its replacement it will be alright.
Try pressing the focus button several times while using camera and see if that will help, also take several pictures with auto focus and without and try recording video too, then get out of camera mode and go back to main screen, check if that made the red light go off. If this didn't help I would try a master reset on the phone .
If you try this, make a back up of your contacts on your sim card, and your pictures and videos on your SD card. Hopefuly this helps, Good luck!
I had the same problem , i fixed it by opening the phone and plugging the camera connector that was unplugged from the flex and connect it back in simple camera works perfect now heres a site to show how too!!! http://www.formymobile.co.uk/viewtydisassembly.php
As far as I know, the Viewty software is only compatible with windows. It also comes on a tiny disc which might get eaten up by your Mac. However, you can tell the Viewty to behave like a USB memory stick, which should work with the majority of OSs out there, including Mac. LG will tell you that their software is great. As a viewty user, I will tell you that their software is awful. It doesn’t offer much more functionality than by using the viewty as a plain ol’ memory stick, and I don’t mind sacrificing that functionality for the sake of usability. The software crashed every single time I tried to use it. One of the features the viewty doesn’t have is an obvious way to delete all text messages. However, all hope is not lost. By clicking what I call the “right click” button (or what you might call “the button in the bottom left with the three horizontal lines on it”), it’ll bring up a list of options. Scroll down to “Mark/Unmark” and it’ll turn your inbox into a list with radio buttons. Check the radio button right at the top of the screen (next to “Inbox”) and then hit the “delete” button down at the bottom. That’s how you can delete all your text messages! The delete key on the viewty is actually a button (surprisingly). At the bottom of the handset you have a green phone icon, a red phone icon, and a central button which looks like a “C”. That central button is the delete button. What looks like the touch-screen delete button is actually a “return to previous” button. This feature seems to be a problem for a lot of people - I know I first got confused the first time I used my viewty and tried to delete text on it. This button on the homescreen of the viewty is the easiest way to access your web browser. The long way is “menu” -> “extras” -> “O2 active” -> home. I’ll cover some of the features of the web browser at a later date. This button on the homescreen of the viewty is the easiest way to access your web browser.
