Hmmm..flashes under the top(as in the hood)..I suspect you have some faulty wiring. Only way to find out..

unhook power

remove hood/top

visually inspect wires for fraying or cuts(sometimes critters will do this too)

report back, ok?

How do you replace the heating element in a Maytag PYE-2300

Unplug the dryer cord.
Use a putty knife to release the 2 spring clamps holding the top lid to the front panel. They will be about 2 inches in from the right and left sides where the top meets the front.
Raise the top lid and fold it towards the rear of the dryer.
The heating element will be in the back left corner.
Remove the hi-limit thermostat on top of the element. Remove the element retaining screw and remove the element.
You should replace the hi-limit thermostat also.

A bright light flashed in the oven and now it is not heating up what can be wrong the fan is still working though and the grill

Check the thermal fuses / sensors mounted on the top exterior of the heating chamber and also the heating element. Both accessible from the rear of the oven. The element is most likely to have gone. It will be a 2 or 3 turn coil type with the fan mounted to the middle of it. You will need to check the number of turns of the coiled element and also the mounting holes to ensure you get the right type. Turn off the mains power at the breaker or distribution point. You can get to the element behind the rear plate of the oven cavity by removing the side shelf slides, and rear panel by undoing the securing screws on the plate (2 or 4 depending on the exact model you have). Often a good idea to take a photo of the element mounting and take the model and serial no of the oven so that you can take this to the domestic appliance shop or email it to an online supplier to make sure that the element they supply is correct for your exact oven.

Infinite switch sparking!!!!

You have a short somewhere between the switch and the burner connector. Probably a wire's insulation has worn away or melted and is allowing the wire to contact the metal housing somewhere. You will see arc marks wherever the short is located. Look carefully where the wire passes through any holes or where sharp turns are encountered.

Hi,

Take off the water tank, you will se one screw in the chassis, look in the beenhopper and there will you see two screw, loosen this to. Open the door and look up to the right corner and left corner there will you see one screw in each corner, loose this. take of the steam knob. Take of the top.
Look at the right corner and you will see one screw that has to be loosen. If you have to change the boiler you can put a screwdriver in the hole on the right side between the top and chassis and ****, now you can lift up all and work with it on the table.
