I have used my Phillips Flat Screen TV for 16 months and the screen went black while I was watching it. Took it to the repair man and he wants $390.00 to fix it. He says it is something in the main board. Myself, my family and friends will never purchase another Phillips product in our lives again. I need a new TV and I m buying one for my daugher as a wedding gift.......they will not be a Phillips!

Same problem. 7 red lights goes away if I unplug the power to Ymain. I'm fully capable of replacing the board.

Can someone tell me where to get a ymain board and the two buffer boards?

The bottom half of the TV occasionally went black prior to the TV going completely bad. My guess is that the lower Y buffer board went bad. I also removed the two buffer boards with the Ymain board still attached to power and still got the red lights. So, I imagine the Ymain board is dead now too.

In another post, the trouble shooting suggestion was to disconnect the power cable to the YMain board to see if the red blinking goes away. This narrows the problem to the YMain and YBuffer boards. This is the problem I have.

Does anyone know how to buy YMain and YBuffer boards?

Also, I see a post against phillips below but, just to ppoint this out, the PDP and the boards in the TV are ALL Samsung. This TV is a samsung product in phillips clothing.

Neither the Y main or Y buffer boards are on the phillips webstie under the parts list. I also contacted Vance Baldwin who is their parts supplier and they have no ability to supply these. Apparently this TV has been discontinued and there are simply no boards available. Lesson learned.... Don't buy a philips (or any) tv without a minimum 2 year warranty.

Anyone in the Sacramento area want a TV with dead y main and buffer boards???

A tech will need to come out. When the tech do come out have him unplug the Y main and see if the led goes solid greem if it does have them replace the Ymain and the Y upper/lower boards. Most likely that will be the problem.

Bottom half of the screen goes black frequently.

You can start here:;jsessionid=87CE21B6A8264B83B8D00501ADACA8BF.app107-drp1?_dyncharset=UTF-8&country=&categoryid=FLAT_TV_CA_US_CARE&userLanguage=en&navCount=1&groupId=TV_GR_US_CARE&catalogType=&navAction=push&userCountry=us&title=Flat+TV+(plasma%2C+LCD)

Enter the exact Model Numbere in the search text field.

First verify the exact Model Number of your TV. Mine is a 42PF7220A/37.

go to:

On this page I found listed under "Software2.gif & drivers" the Firmware Upgrade Software 42PF7220A/37 v1.5.0.0

I downloaded the compressed file and extracted it to a USB Flash Drive2.gif.
After you extract the file you will have 2 files...."autorun.upg" and a "readme.txt".
Print out the readme file the delete it off the USB Flash Drive2.gif
Make sure the USB Flash Drive2.gif has only one file on it (autorun.upg)

Make sure the TV is turned off.
Put the USB Flash Drive in any of the USB ports on the TV.
Turn the TV power on with the Power Button on the righthand side of the TV.
The TV will display an Update screen.
Let the TV run through all 3 processes.
Turn the TV off and remove the USB Flash Drive.
Power the TV back up.
Hopefully the Updates fixed the problem.....

Phillips flat screen no picture has sound and blinks 7 times.

I think this blinking is an error code. Either consult the user manual to find out what it means or go to as mant Philips forums as you can find to get the answer. I will say that I think you have a fault on the line output stage. Either dry solder joints or the line output transisor or transformer is faulty. Hope this helps.

Settings screen keeps coming on

Remove the batteries from the remote and see if it still happens. If not, then you have a stuck button on the remote. If it continues, then it is a TV problem.

Phillips 427220a

After you remove the back cover inspect the power supply board for swollen or bulging capacitors. Pull and check any capacitors that you suspect to be swollen. Next, look for a sticker in the upper right hand side of the TV set. Use the values you find on the sticker to calibrate the voltages on the power supply board.
