Question about Sony NWZ-A816 Digital Media Player

5 Answers

I can not upload/play videos

I have tried everything! Converting files, dragging & dropping, downloading WMP11 (windows media player), and nothing works. All I have is this stupid Spiderman clip that came on it upon purchase. Which is just an annoying reminder that I could have video's on this device-but cant.

Anyone get videos on this thing??

I had the same problem and I it is resolved already.
That is what I did:

  1. Upload the last firmware from Sony Web site for the player unit.
  2. Install the WinAvi MP4 Converter software for convert the DVD and other video files to .mp4 extension *cost $25, you could try with others.
  3. Install the free Sony Media Manager for WALKMAN for sync the media files (Windows Media Player 11 does not work at all)
  4. It works!

I had the same problem. Nothing helps. The sample that came with the device did not play either. If your sample works, can you some how send to me so I can look at the codecs and try to reproduce?
Thanks,
Andy.

I don't know how to upload music into my M4304 RCA MP3

There should have been a file on the player that you can access through Windows Explorer (My Computer, click on the dirve that is your player) that should be named: RCAeasyRip_setup.exe

If you do not have this file, it can be downloaded from the RCA site here:
http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2253

Run this file to install the RCA easyRip softwar that allows you to transfer all media. You HAVE to use this application to transfer videos because it does the conversion to a compatible format (if Windows Media Player can play it, easyRip should be able to convert it). Any questions you have about using easyRip can be accessed by the module on the dock that has a '?' on the icon for it (Look up the Player Loader module for how to transfer).

Other media you can just drag and drop to the device if you don't care about video (again, just find the drive letter that is your player in My Computer and just drag and drop music and photos onto that drive)

Lastly, you can use Windows Media Player to sync any music and photo files.

the player always on top.
Drag and drop files into the new playlist on the right side.
3. Save playlist
4. select Sync in top of the WMP11 and "Start Sync" on the right of the screen; the transfer is executed.

Philips SA6185/02 8GB MP3 Player

It's unlikely to be a fault with the player.

I have just run the Arcsoft Convertor with a DivX encoded .AVI file and it processed correctly.

One possible cause of this problem is that you may not have DivX codecs installed on your PC.
To check this, try playing your .AVI file in Windows Media Player. If it doesn't play, then you will need to download the necessary codecs. Try www.divx.com

If it plays ok, then continue---->

I assume you are trying to convert and transfer directly to the SA6185.

In this case try converting the file before connecting the player and transferring:

Open Arcsoft Media Convertor
Drag the .AVI file into the program window
Click the "Select Player:" drop-down menu and select SA61xx manually.
The "Convert To" setting should default to Folder.
The default folder setting is My Documents/Arcsoft MediaConvertor/

Click "Convert" to start the process.

If this works, then when the process has finished, navigate to the converted file.
Connect the player to the PC, and drag & drop the .WMV file directly into the Video folder of the SA6185.
Disconnect the player when the display says "Ok to disconnect" and restart.
Go to the video option and your movie should be listed and ready to play back.

If the Convert process doesn't work then, the file is most definitely the cause of the problem. If so, post again with details of the file, and how it was created.
