This is exactly what I was looking for. The first machine wasn't the one I have but I quickly found mine, printed off the information I needed and am back in business! Thank you very much.

I only need to know how to set the outgoing message and don't feel like I should have to pay for a 'plan' to do that. I can buy a new machine for about the same cost. Very disappointed in GE's support.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Answering system question

I believe the procedure is supposed to be this:

Dial the phone and wait for the outgoing message.

During the message, enter your three digit security code. If you haven't changed it, the factory default code is 123. That should put you in charge of the answering machine functions through the keypad of the phone you are calling in from.

You may need to write up a "cheat sheet" to remember what buttons do what answering machine functions. I think the controls should work the same as the labeled functions on the handsets that came with the 28112EE2 phone system. That is, 1 replays the message, 2 is the play/stop button, 3 skips ahead, etc.

I can not get my phone to pick up on the answering system when a caller is trying to leave a message

Try looking underneath the console of the answering machine. You must turn the answerer on on most machines and underneath there may be a switch to determine how many rings before it picks up as well.
