the jack inside the unit either is bad or the solder connections are bad...you can re-solder the jack(if you know how to solder) and see if this fixes it...or else you'll have to replace the jack(which may be avail. through Radio Shack)

Someone gave me an Sylvania MP3 player, I don't know how to make it work, can I download how to manual?

If the MP3 Player does not turn on when the power button is pressed:

I just got one a few days ago and it didn't work when I took it out of the package. Unfortunately, there was nothing to indicate that the battery was not pre-charged before it was packaged (like most similar products are generally). After plugging it in the computer USB port for an hour or so, it worked fine (and still works fine).

If you need a manual try this url:

It's not working...

The Opal has a reset hole on the back of the unit in which a toothpick (non metallic) can be inserted to reboot the player.
If this does not work, I suggest that you reformat the player by using the WindowsTM format command on the unit. To reformat the memory
  1. Right click on the device within the Explorer or My Computer window
  2. Select the format command (full format) to reformat the internal memory of the device.
  3. Reinstall the firmware from http://download.rcaaudiovideo.com/downloads/opal_fwutility_v2.3.0.exe
