I promise that nobody will be able to fix your calculator, because these calculators are not fixable. Even if they are, labor costs more than the thing itself. In other words, your son totaled it. If you want, I can sell you a brand new, original package TI-83+ calculator for $45, provided that you send me your broken one. You can pay for your shipping, and I'll pay for mine, so your total for you would come out to approximately $45+$5=$50. That's half of the standard Walmart price. If you have any doubts, you can call the store or go to the website. Or ask you son :) Nobody in the universe will ever give you a better deal, so decide for yourself. You can then charge your **** son $70, and all three of us will be perfectly happy. This might sound too good to be true, but it's not. I need your broken calculator not for parts but for my business, which I can't talk about. So if you're interested in $50, call 713-412-2722, and I'll brief you on the details. My e-mail is, and I hope you can figure out my name.

The liquid crystal is oozing, so the screen will be renderd useless soon. It may be time to get another calculator. If it is not an expensive graphing calculator it may not be worth it to have it repaired.

It doesn't look good for being able to purchase the display as a part. I checked HP and the unit is not listed. I saw a 49G but no repair parts listed. you can research with HP at:

Cracked screen

Chances are it is too far gone. You could send it to TI for repair but that will cost almost as much as buying a new one.

Sorry :(

Screen problem on a ti calculator

If they are smudges, or smear marks, clean them with a soft cloth with some isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol, very little). If LCD screen is damaged I do not know what you can do except having it repaired.
Hope it helps.

Cracked TI-86 screen

well this isn't looking to good for you? The TI 86 isn't made anymore, so I doubt you can get it replaced. your luck has kinda run dry. You are probably going to have to buy a new calculator. Sorry to be the barer of bad news. Good luck though.

New TI-83 Plus never used with damaged screen

Honestly, the best thing to do would be to take it back to the place you bought it and see if you can return it. It would be less expensive to buy a new one than to repair a broken one. This time I have a suggestion: buy a cover for it if it's going to be in his backpack. I got mine from Staples!
