Question about Philips 60PP9202 60" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Pico Fuzes? I finally got the STK 392-150 IC's installed this afternoon. The set worked for about 60 seconds before it went down. I have power to the set, but nothing works. When I had the board out to change the IC's I didn't find any pico fuzes or resistors that looked burnt, discolored, etc. I did get the tech manual for it, are the pico fuzes mounted on the same circuit board as the IC's?

Will bad convergance ic's keep my Mitsubishi

If one of the two stk-392-570 chips has shorted it will blow a pico fuse on middle board and set will not come on.

Plug set in, turn on, when green power light goes out on the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons for at least five seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a two digit error code: if 2,2 it is a blown pico fuse and the chips also must be replaced. I have start to finish step by step instructions that are available if the customer selects me to answer in the new Marketplace here on Fixya.

see attached photo of chip and also part of middle board with the green pico fuses.

A projection tv to have a distorted picture

Your TV has a convergence board problem which is very common with these types of TV's even with the other brands. The fix for this is by replacing two identical IC's with part# XXXXX starts with STK. For your TV, the part# XXXXX XXXXX but most technicians including me replace these with STK392-150 for higher wattage rating and reliability. And before replacing these IC's technicians check small components called resistors and pico fuses. They also check for loose or cold solder connections.

Hard to say what might be the problem, but I would be checking for the following:

a) verify all fuses (pico fuses) are not blown. They look like yellow, or green resistors typically and should be marked with some sort of "Fxxx" designator

b) Verify resistors around the STK chips are of the right value

c) Verify your soldering connections

d) It is possible the part you installed was defective. Verify you cannot move any color in any direction. (horizontal or vertical)

e) Try to verify if power is getting to the IC - if so, then likely an IC problem. If not, likely a fuse problem.

f) Finally get a schematic and verify the pinout from the STK chip to the red, blue, green connectors to ensure you did not accidently remove a surface mount resistor.

I replaced the STK chips and one pico fuse that was blown on the input power board (the fuses and resistors near the STK chips are fine). I turn the power on, no screen and I get sound for 1 second, then...

A blink of 4 times is an error code that there is no vertical deflection. There may still be a problem with the + or - 15 volt supplies. This error is generate when the vertical deflection pulse is missing. there might be a problem with ic 8003 wich is the vertical drive ic. this chip generates a signal witch is detected by transistor q 8001 check pin 3 to see if you have 4 volt stop signal

A common problem with convergence failure is either the STK IC chips and or the resistors. So yes, check for an open on the resistors to see if and possibly how many of the resistors need to be replaced. Good luck!

Mitsubishi WS-65611 IC's replaced

this set has a self diagnostic feature; when you turn it on and the green light goes out--push menu and device(or input) together for 5 seconds. the led for power should blink an error code. The most common is 2, pause and 2---this means something is shorted. If the set functioned before you changed the stk--you may have a new IC that is shorted--this IC is protected by two pico fuses usually marked as fao4 and fao5----they are about 3 inches behind the IC and are marked 5 a(they are green in color and do not look like fuses) also check all the 3.9 ohm blue resistors in front of the Ic--if any are white in the middle they are gone and the new IC got them. you did not remove the board? you tilted the entire chassis up to get at the IC? take a good look to make sure you did not pull any plugs loose---check for the error code first and let me know what it is. Best way to do this repair is to remove the entire board from the plastic frame---takes a little longer but is safer way to get it done. If one of the pico fuses is blown you will check it just like a regular fuse--an open fuse will suggest short and the set will shut down with 2, pause. 2 errror code.
