Any one know of a quality place to get my ex-p700 "tuned up"? sporadically shuts off . . . and the view finder plastic pc is loose / falls off . . . just didn't' want to glue that myself . . .

NEVER remove or insert a memory card while the camera is powered up. The camera is probably shutting itself off to avoid damaging the data on the card.

Your camera has an electronic view finder. To switch between the view finder and the display, you have to press the DISP. button several times and look what happens in Shooting mode and what in Playback mode. If only the display will come on, and the viewfinder stays black the camera will have a defect. If you can't use the camera anymore, because you only can shoot with the viewfinder, consider buying a new camera, because any repair will be more expensive than a new camera with the same quality.

I believe those are misfire codes on your cylinders. Tune up may be needed.

If the estimation of the main control board is high it is better to buy a new camera with better feaures than to invest on old technology.
So try if you get some benefit from scraping the camera for spares.

1- Easy: could it be the lens needs cleaning?

2- Difficult Hardware problems:
-Do you see striped unclear violet marks all over the image? If so it could be the CCD sensor has become degraded
-Could be the lens is misaligned out of position due to a blow or fall?

Go to www.lexmark.com and click on DRIVERS AND DOWNLOADS. Then use the DRIVER FINDER. In SEARCH BY MODEL, type in X700 or P700 (whichever you have) and you can choose a driver from there.

Condensation usually occurs from the camera being taken from a dry, cool, place to a warm, humid place, or visa versa, in a short period of time (example: from a hotel room with A/C to the outside on a warm humid day).

Try putting the camera in a plastic bag when you know you're going to take it between two locations like that, as the air in the plastic bag will slowly adjust to the new temperature, reducing condensation

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.


Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
