Canon E520 camcorder

My camcorder closes ok with no tape, but when I put in a tape
it closes momentarily, I hear things whirling, but then it opens
to reject the tape after only about 4 seconds.
What do you think is wrong?

I am experiencing the same problem with my ZR80. I have tried different brands of tapes with no luck. I had not dropped the camcorder nor had it suffered any major or minor trauma.

Yes I have a similar problem. In my case when I put the cassete in and push the compartment in, the camera pauses for a couple of seconds and releases the tape back out. So I can not get the cassete into the camera.

This is a common problem with the Canon mini DV camcorders. You need to reseat the connectors inside the unit, and this MIGHT work. Take the battery out. Close the LCD and hold the unit with your non-dominant hand so the LCD is in your palm and the opposite side is up. Give the unit a good thwack with your dominant hand. Put the battery back and check to see if it worked. If not, try one more time. But don't keep whacking it.......

Canon ZR300 Mini DV Digital Camcorder THE MINI DV TAPE IT DOES NOT GO INSIDE THE CAMERA, SOUND LIKE IS GOING BUT IS EJECTED WITH A AUDIO WARNING AND IN THE VIEWFINDER SAY REMOVE THE TAPE AND A X APPEARS,...

I know this is going to sound strange. I had the same issue with my ZR300. When you insert a tape and close the mechinism you hear the tape whirl then it pops open and chimes. I found a solution online and thought it was to good to be true. It said to hold the camcorder in your left hand with the right side up (the opposite side of the fold out viewer). You then hit the camcorder , not real hard like slapping something. Open the door and insert the tape and WHAM! It loaded fine. Eight people had tried it according to the review and all eight people had success. I was skeptical but it works! Don't hit it so hard you break it. I did mine twice before it worked but it works everytime now. Trust me just try it and it will work.

The camcorder will not accept a tape. without a tape, the thing will open and close. With a tape, it will beep and the motor spins, but it will not receive the tape.

hey pls put your cam with the 60 watt blub which can produce heat and put it like cabinet about 1 hours! it will solve it !
be happy for it!

When i turn my xl 1s on and i put a new blank tape in it the red tape signal comes up on my screen, any help?

If you don't hear the normal sound, that the camara exept the tape, you problibly forgot to push in the tap of the tape receive mecanisme, before you close the cap. Closing the cap does not cause acceptance of the tape, like other camcorders.

Canon ZR100 cassette compartment won't open

Usually a chime happens when you open the plastic cover just before it opens. If you plug it into the electrical outlet does it eject that way?
