I need to know how to remove the dryer from the washer on my Frigidaire Gleh1642fs1 Gallery series laundry center. I need to replace the bearings in the washer.

Dryer does not come off, you have to work through the front panel. This is not a job for the average do it yourselfer. But if your gonna dig in you'll need some speciality tools like a spanner wrench for the drive block nut and basically anything else in an average tool box for the rest, good luck.

Water outlet hose replacement

Hi, you could try copper pipe, 22mm, or 3/4" (ish) ( plumbers) and jubilee (adjustable clips, from hardware store) to clamp the two together.

Broken transmission in washer - can I replace just the washer unit? Or does the whole thing need to be replaced.

The transmission can be replaced by it's self, but it's sort of expensive. See this diagram part 3
It will be even more unless you can do it yourself.
I don't know if you can replace just the washer.

Remove the top lid, then the front panel to access the drum and belt. Unplug the dryer first.

Frigidaire dryer rear spindle

This Should Be Lubricated, Providing The right Lube Is Used.
You need To grease The Bearings With A high Melting point Grease. Copperease Or Similar. ( I,m not sure What the Americans Use ) alternatively A little Vaseline ( Petroleum Jelly Should Do the Trick ) Always Works Wonders For Me :)
If The Bearing Race ( Holder ) Has Broken, Then A replacement Will be Necessary, This will involve A gear Puller Or similar to remove.
If the bearing is Grating Or grinding, lubricant is only a short term fix.
