Performance issues are usually simple to resolve. DC11 has two filters - the 2-part pre-filter (the yellow plastic outer casing the the blue foam inner section) should be washed at least once every three months. The post-filter is engineered to last the lifetime of the machine without maintenance or replacement. If you have washed the post-filter, unfortunately this may have caused damage and we would recommend replacing it.

With the exception of the sole plate and brush bar, the Turbine head is manufactured as a complete assembly. We wouldn't recommend attempting to dismantle it as we can't guarantee this won't cause damage. The Turbine head on the DC11 range is not powered by a motor, it is air driven. If the performance of this tool has reduced, this is most likely caused by a dirty filter or a blockage in the head or the machine.

I have taken the brush heads off and pulled all the hair out of the small gap between the chrome shaft and the plastic gear housing. Then a small amount of 3-in-1 oil into that gap to lube the internals and just a little through the air intake on the side of the head to clean and lube the seals and it works like new. This lasts about 9 months under high use and the process takes roughly 10 minutes.
