Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

We have changed magenta drums in our Xante CL30 three times in the last week. As soon as we change the drum the test sheet prints out fine, works for 500 sheets or so and then a large area of banding starts. We are using toner from Dubber Toner which is economical and has worked fine in the past. The support crew at Xante has not been helpful. Any ideas how we can solve this problem as we have rush jobs at this time. Thank you.

    Hello Paul

The toner is currently at 50%.

We already tried shaking the toner from side to side
but have NOT tried gently shaking the drum from side to side.

We will try this and get back to you.

    Thanks,

    Hi, Paul

My husband has tried all your suggestions but so far no luck.

We are using refill toner, but we have used this particular
brand for 6 months with absolutely no problems and we have
been doing a lot of work.

Have more rush jobs in the next few days so let me
know if you have any other suggestions.

    Hi, Paul

We have been refilling original toner cartridge several times.

We don?t have another margenta cartridge here at the present moment so we will
have to purchase this (takes several days) to try this.

Drum does not have any leakage or spillage. We have replaced
the drum several times this week. Each time we replace it
it works for about 500-1000 sheets then starts banding on
    1/2 the sheet or more.

We are out at meetings for the next few hours
and will check back this afternoon.

    Thanks for all your help,

    Hi, Paul

    Thank you for your assistance.

We received a second (or third?) new drum from Xante
on Friday. At the moment it appears that the two drums we
were sent previously were defective. This third drum
    appears OK.

We have had no problems with the toner we are purchasing from
    Dubber Toner.

Do you know of a supplier who supplies the empty toner cartridges at a good price?

    Thank you,
    AJF at leap24

Thanks for all your assistance, Paul.

My husband says he does not see any flag on the side
    of the cartridge.

Our machine seems to be working fine at the moment.

It seems that Xante sent us two defective drums
in a row. They should be reimbursing us about $500.00.

We have kept a record of all your troubleshooting suggestions
and I am sure they will help in the future.

    Best,

  • paul proctor Feb 29, 2008

Hi are you refilling the original one or refilling a generic one as ive been told you will keep having problems if you refill the original toner i think it has a flag on the side of cartridge check this as this could be your problem

  • paul proctor Feb 29, 2008

And also its best to replace the cartridge after filling up so many times as this will also cause problems so maybe try new cartridge and see if problem remains you might find that this solves your problem.

  • paul proctor Feb 29, 2008

  • paul proctor Mar 03, 2008

Hi sorry but been offline for a while from my experiance and from what other users of your unit have found is that if you are refilling the original toners then you will keep having the problem your having and also as you have refilled that one a few times its best to replace it anyway as they do tend to cause problems the more you refill them.
I would suggest replacing and then give it a try printing you should find this solving your problem if not give me a shout but you should be fine so get back to me once you have tried this but hopefully youll tell me problem solved

  • paul proctor Mar 04, 2008

Hi sorry been away for while will ask around for you and let you know soon if the cartridge your filling up doesnt have a small flag on one of the sides then you should be ok let me know if it does have a smaill flag on one side as this cartridge isnt refillable and will cause problems as i live in uk the prices might vary some what so what part of the world you from then i can give you the best price from where you are.
Fingers crossed problem solved hope you have no more problems

  • paul proctor Mar 05, 2008

If the cartridge your filling dont have a flag on one side then you can keep using it but if you start to get ant smudges or smears or bad printing then you will need to clean it using alcahol cleaner or thiners type product but you should have no problems now anyway.

  • paul proctor Mar 05, 2008

Fuser Error

I truly believe that you did not take the fuser out. It is not a simple process and is not readily accessible.
You most likely took out the toner cartridge, which works with the fuser.
The fuser is what "fuses" the toner to the paper so the documents print as expected. There are fuser kits that can be purchased, and they usually come with some decent instructions.

in case of new printer
A fuser problem is serious but if it is is a new printer, use the warranty now. Don't play with it as more than likely you can't recover and you *MAY VOID* the warranty in any attempts, so use the warranty. You should have returned it immediately once the problem cropped-up to be within the quicker satisfaction settlement period, you may now have to deal with a warranty center if not the vendor themselves for repair, but start the process. Plus, document this as well, cal,s letters, etc. to best serve yourself if any other problems arise.

To explain what the fuser is, one must explain what the fuser does.

A laser printer works by assembling the page in its memory, then transfers that "image" by scanning a drum. The drum then picks up a charge which will attract the toner. By varying the laser you can induce specific dots, creating an image on the drum. The drum is rotated through the toner, the charge then attracts the oppositely charged toner particles (the uncharged sections don't have anything) The drum, now dark with toner, is touched to the paper, which has an opposite charge, thus transfer all the toner over to the paper. Then the paper is sent THROUGH the fuser, which basically MELTS the toner onto the paper permanently.

If the fuser is too hot, that means the temp control unit for the printer fuser has FAILED, and that is NOT something you can fix by yourself. The labor will likely cost more than the printer unless it's under warranty.

You took out the toner cartridge, which is NOT the fuser. Toner cartridge is just the toner and the drum together in one unit. The fuser is where it warns "high temp! do not touch!"

Just buy another printer or use the backup printer. Again, this is NOT something you can fix by yourself.

Print Photographs on Minolta Magicolor 6100

Hi Ralph,
do you have any options within the printer or software program itself, to give you options to lighten-darken output ?
Or perhaps changing the resolution settings May Help You.
Also try to print a test page in printer preferences, to eliminate the printer itself.

I have a Canon Pixma IP 5000 inkjet printer and am using Mac OS 10.3.9. It has 5 ink cartridges: 2 black (3e and 6) and one each yellow, magenta and cyan. I use it all day every day. After printing...

Thanks for getting back to me.
Sorry this ain't a solution but it seems to be the only cash-free way to contact you. No problem not solved - though I have tried everything. Dismantled the printer; washed, dried and replaced the waste ink pads; washed the print head; blew compressed air through the print-head sponge; replaced the cartridge 3 times; printed hundreds of test prints. I can't think of anything else to do and so I think the only solution is to replace the printhead (probably not even available) or replace the printer. The latter is looking most likely.

Let me know the operating system.
as soon as u connect to the system the Operating system should recognise the printer. If not try changing the connection cable and the port of PC. Try installing drivers once again.

Printer

The cartridge needs cleaning. There are several things you can try. Using a wet paper towel, you can wipe the gold portion of the cartridge to try and draw out ink, or you can dunk the entire cartridge in warm water for a couple minutes or so (I have done this with success). The process is more clearly explained here:
