Hi,
Sure it Will,
If you keep running for 24 hours, how Would you feel ??
If you need to run your computer for long periods, keep by a well ventilated area ( slightly open Window ) for extra Cooling.
If you Have legs on the underside, open them up, so that the laptop is off the Desktop. ( air circulation Underneath )
Place on a solid surface ( wooden top et,c )
Make sure nothing can interefere With Outlet ports. ( Fan Blower )
But In general Not recommended.

Thankyou For Using Fixya :)

Your problem could be about ePower Management program which is preinstall by Acer. It has no sense but if you don´t run this application, after sleep mode (or hibernation in some cases) the fun won´t work again. Acer won´t fix it because their don´t considere it a problem!!!

Toshiba Tecra S2 & S4 experience:
Symptoms: sudden total unexpected shut-downs
temperature external casing under cooling module: 63 - 65 degrees C.
Solution: strong vacuum cleaner suction tube applied for couple minutes to cooling module fan exhaust port - to suck out all dust!
Result: equilibrium temperature - even after 12 hours continuous use is 35 - 40 degrees

This makes sense.

What would cause my aspire 5630 to shut down sporadically?

Shut down sporadically, caused by rising temperatures on the processor (processor overheat). Processor overheat, caused by damage to the processor fan. Processor fan function to reduce the processor temperature.

Possibilities and solutions
1. The possibility of sluggish processor fan. Processor fan spins, with a low speed, so it can not reduce the processor temperature.
Solution: clean the processor fan with a vacuum cleaner, or replace the processor fan.
2. The possibility of fan processor die.
Solution: replace the processor fan.

The characteristics of damage to the processor fan
After the laptop is turned off (more than 1 hour), the laptop can turn on and survive + - 30 minutes. In the period of + - 30 minutes, the laptop died suddenly, because the processor temperature exceeds safe limits (shut down temperature).

How to check
Laptop is turned off (more than 1 hour), then turn on. Download and install software to check the processor temperature. Ex. Real Temp 3.60. See the change in temperature. If the temperature continues to rise, it can certainly cause damage to the processor fan.
- Normal temperature, when first turned on + - 38oC
- Normal temperature, after turn on for hours 40oC - 45oC
- Temperature overheat processor, when first turned on 60oC - 65oC

Have acer one notebook. cant restore even with restore disk. a friend bought one at the same time june 2009. acer customer support said there is nothing they can without sending in for repair. did check...

You won't physically see damage from heat. It is the CPU and motherboard that gets damaged when it overheats. If they did a recall they might cover replacement even though it is several years old now. You might want to ask them.

I have an acer 5520 laptop,it has started shutting of without any warning even though plugged in and fully charged

Causes:

1. Overheat

Most cases this is caused by a over heat where the system fan gets blocked or there is not enought air flow, this can damage the system cpu.

Other known causes

AC/ adapter needs to be replaced some case were found that the ac adapter would be the cause as well it would be something to have checked out.

Now if the system shuts off without the ac adapter and its running on the battery as well you might want to look at the overheat issue.

thanks for using fixya please do be considerate and post you ratings and feedback for your answer today.
