Recovery of factory default software not working on toshiba m115 keep getting error10e7160017 how do i fix this

Posted on Dec 28, 2009

Hi, I have had the same problem for the past two weeks now. I have changed the hard drive and ram. Still no good, much investigation told me to upgrade the bios. Did that. Still no good. Finally I burnt a disk of the original, I received from Toshiba. Worked like a charm. Apparently the paper on disk is too heavy for the dvd rom. Will be a cheaper option then changing hdds.

Cheers

Ok, the problem is you have a defective hard drive. You need to get that replaced as soon as you can.

Please let me know if this helps. Take care!

ERROR INSTALLING PREINST3.SWM

The work around for this is to take the Toshiba restore disk and do a dvd copy disk to disk and use the copies to restore the computer. I had the same problem and the disk would not read correctly. I called Toshiba and they were no help. I saw a post on another web log and they suggested copying the origianl restore disks. They copies ran without a problem.

How to reboot my toshiba satellite a100/a105 without recovery disk

I don't think "reboot" is the phrase you are really asking about.

To reboot is simply shutting your computer down and then letting it re-start itself.

To re-install the Operating System, and its drivers for that laptop, is another story.

To do that, if you do not have a recovery disk, would involve having a legit copy of windows, and then another computer to download the network drivers for that computer (either on a flash, CD, or floppy) to install on laptop to connect to the internet to retrieve the rest of the drivers for that laptop that can be found at:

Please can you supply me instructions and/or diagrams for replacement keyboard for a toshiba sattilite pro a100 laptop

Jasper02:

Good day to you. The A100 is a Satellite, but not a Satellite Pro. Additionally, the exact model of your laptop will include a number of characters following the 100. For instance, it could be A100-Sxx11TD (where xx=22, 23, or 81), or it could be A100-STxxxx (xx=1041, 1042, 3211, or 8211). Therefore, it is possible that there could be instructions or other information available for your specific model. However, there are no instructions or other such indication as to how you could replace your own keyboard at Toshiba. They indicate in user materials that an authorized service provider should handle any such matters. I suspect this is because it is much more difficult than it may first appear - a notebook keyboard is not an isolated piece of equipment as it is with a desktop, as it is an integrated part of your notebook.

Unless there is a real need to do otherwise, if you can not rectify the issue with your keyboard, I would recommend simply obtaining and using an external keyboard. There are a number of different models specifically designed to be small and portable for laptop usage. See this link for Toshiba's keyboard troubleshooting: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=639911xml&sliceId=&dialogID=45559243&stateId=0%200%2045557500.

The link to the User's Guide is here for the A100/A105 product line. http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_docTOC.jsp?moid=1484725&rpn=PSAA8U&ct=UG&soid=1266386&BV_SessionID=@@@@0620704634.1214760254@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadeehkeldeecgfkceghdgngdgmn.0
The support home is at the link below, and you can choose your exact actual model from the drop down list (Satellite in the middle) on the far right. http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0620704634.1214760254@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadeehkeldeecgfkceghdgngdgmn.0

There are a couple of basic concerns I have become aware of over the past few months, however, that you should be made aware of as well. First, there is a critical BIOS update for the A100 model, and failure to update could result in issues with your battery specifically and your PC generally. The link with the basic information, concerning a randomly chosen A100 model is at http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_supportNews.jsp?moid=1484720&rpn=PSAA8U&ct=SN&hideNav=true&sn_mod=1484720&sn_rpn=PSAA8U&sn_mpn=&BV_SessionID=@@@@0620704634.1214760254@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadeehkeldeecgfkceghdgngdgmn.0.

[I do not know if the following impacted your situation, but if the battery was one of the bad ones, it could very well be the root cause.]

Basically, it was discovered that many batteries in the Toshiba models cited were defective and have created major issues - up to and including catching on fire! So, you should check your battery to be certain that you are not at risk. If your battery is one of those indicated as defective, they will replace it free - and they are also very definite about not using the machine on AC with the battery installed... Please take a look at the link --
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_dtlView.jsp?soid=1788033&BV_SessionID=@@@@0089026791.1212258658@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccccadeefdghjdgcgfkceghdgngdgmn.0&ignore_sn=true.

Finally, if you still believe that you must replace the keyboard on your notebook, you can purchase it from National Parts Depot, which is the company distributing for Toshiba. See link below, and I would suggest contacting them to ensure that diagram and/or instructional document is included.

Toshiba Laptop crashing

Hi vfcork4al67, did your notebook come with restore cd's or a windows cd? If yes load your restore cd or windows cd into the cdrom drive. Boot the notebook. The notebook should go to the cdrom & start to load the cd. Follow the on screen instructions if you booted to the restore cd & re-install the operating system. This will over write windows & repair windows files. If your not using a restore cd but do have a windows cd repeat the same instruction above as if it were the restore cd.
I'll post a link for your Toshiba Satellite a100 notebook but there are many A100's. You will need to find the correct notebook you have. Click the link below & find your notebook.
http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/afin.to?stt1=Notebook%20PCs&stt2=Satellite

Once you find the corect A100 download the network card driver. You will need this to enable you to get online & download all the updated drivers for your notebook. I suggest you update windows asap. Many drivers & software installs need many window updated files in order to function correctly. Turn on windows firewall to help protect you while downloading & untill you install virus protection. Need some free virus protection. Click the link below & download & install AVG.

Have more question, feel free to ask.
Thanks for using FixYa
