Question about Sharp XR-10X Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Sharp XR10X Screen size

I try to show a video on my Sharp XR-10X-L in 1024x768 format, but the projector keeps changing it to 800x600. I have set my computer screen to 1024x768, I have used the ATI Catalyst control center to set the projector also to 1024x768. When the projector shows the computer screen it is in fact 1024x768, but as soon as the video starts and the two displays no longer show the same image (the computer shows the computer screen, the projector shows only the video), the screen size of the projector changes.

Any suggestions?

Depending on the age of your computer, some of the older video cards in XP only will allow you to show video in 600x800 resolution. When you want to show video go ahead and change both of your display properties (both the primary and the secondary) to 600x800. See if that works.

If that is not what you are refering to go right click on your desktop and look for the properties or settings of your graphics card. it may say graphics properties . In that area there will be tons of options like (when showing video only show it on the secondary monitor) play around with the different settings on your graphics card.
Good luck

Hello, I cannot change my picture from 4:3 to 16:6. The mode "change size" is not working. I cannot stretch the picture. Wolfgang, Germany w

You have to set the out put video format of your dvd player also to 16:9. For that go to the menu of your dvd player and serch for video output seting and set the output as 16:9.

Even if you select 16:9 option in the projector if the video out put of the dvd is 4:3 , then the projector will automatically change to the 4:3.

The letters are grainy using the data projector

Try changing your setting s on your computer to match the resolution to your projector. Change display settings to 800x600, 1024x768, etc. with your mouse right click on your screen, click properties, at the display properties dialogue box click the settings tab you should see the screen resolution.

How do i make the picture to fit the screen on XR10X

You may have tried using the zoom ring located at the lens there are two rings one for focus and zoom. If this is not working you will need to either move the projector physically forward or backward from the screen until you can use the zoom accordingly.

Background "halo light effect" when using XR-10-XL in 16x9 mode

Do you mean there is a dark grey outline when using it in 16x9 mode? This happens with my projector too. Try using dark (or black) masking around the screen.

New bulb in now wont work - no power - wont turn on to reset lamp

first, make sure you have the correct lamp. the lamp for the xr-10x-l looks like the xr-10x, but the plugs are different (common mistake). make sure you have the AN-XR10L2/1, not the AN-XR10LP/1. to reset the lamp timer (with the projector plugged in but off), hold down the enter, down arrow, and menu buttons and press the power.

Sharp xr10x whining noise affects color sometimes not fan.

gas+heat=boom. learned that lesson myself.

sharp part # PFiLWA087WJZZ (c/w assy.)

remove the top (6 bottom screws, 4 back screws (not the one near the plug)). facing the front of the projector, the colorwheel is behind the front leveler foot and attached to the orange ribbon cable. you need to remove the lamp housing, the main board, the fan assembly between the lens and the power supply, and the lens assembly (optical engine). now remove the 2 silver screws holding the colorwheel assembly to the optical engine. that part number is for the wheel itself, so remove the 3 small screws to get it off. to install, repeat procedure. keep in mind which screws and which cables go where.

Sharp XR-10X Bulb works once then nothing

this is something which sharp didnt foresee!!!!!!!!!!
sharp has two identical models
sharp xr10x & the newer model xr10xl.both the lamps look alike , however both have a different rating & reverse connector!!
i.e both cannot be interchanged!however if u have the old xr10x & if u try to fit the new bulb which is lower in wattage, it will explode in 20 mins
if you have bought a used projector , then u wont know if someone has interchanged the ballast!!
as this model was discontinued 2 years back!!!!
so confirm the model , it is mentioned under sharp name or at the bottom
good luck

How do i connect my projecter with my pc

Your Sharp XR-10X will only allow video inputs through the:
1. RGB/ component input (15-pin HD)
2. composite video input (RCA phono color yellow)
2. S-Video input ( 4 pin mini-DIN )

Depending on the output(s) available from your PC, you can use any of the following:
a. the yellow RCA female
b. S-Video output (4 pin mini-DIN )
c. VGA (which normally goes to the monitor) but would require a VGA/HD to HDMI Format Converter such as the one here

Should this be not enough information, please post back with what PC brand/model that you have. Additionally please specify what Video Card are you using if your PC is a desktop.

Good luck and kind regards.
