Recovery Procedure for HP iPAQ hx2750, hx2490, and hx2790 Pocket PC Series: To perform a Hard Reset on the iPAQ Pocket PC by pressing and holding the Calendar and iTask buttons (1 and 4). 2. While holding down the Calendar and iTask buttons, use the stylus to lightly press and hold the Reset button, which is located at the bottom of the iPAQ Pocket PC, for approximately two seconds. 3.. Release all buttons. 4.. Connect AC power to the iPAQ Pocket PC. The handheld Powers On, performs the normal boot sequence, and automatically restarts system.
Solution (on my hx2490 wm5): go into file explorer, and enable view all file in the menu tab, then go into windows directory and find btcoreif file, rename it or delete it, then reboot your pda. and voila! problem solved, sound works fine
I had this problem once and found after tedious looking that one of the pins was bent inside my HP 3715 PDA. I used a very small needle nose and a safety pin and pushed it back in location. Has been working ever since.
