Problem with RSKP 0006 control board

I have installed a new board. When the unit goes into heat the compressor come on with OS temp of 30 F. The compressor will run about 3-4 minutes and turn off, the heater strip then comes on and unit will cycle when the room reaches set temp.
I have replaces several boards over the years, my first RSKP0006 and never had this happen.
What's going on?

Thanks

If the unit has an outdoor thermostat, this turns the aux. heat on very cold days. It may need to be replaced, or removed completely, if its kicking over to soon before it gets that cold. If its set to turn on the electric at 30 degrees, then its working the right way. Also, look for different temp. setting on the board you lust installed, there should be some sort of adjustment options on it. Especially if there is no thermostat outside.

The outside unit leds have a 29 code, before it goes into shutdown. Outside is a LAU180HSV Invertor V Split System. Installed in 2012.

That code means that the compressor is drawing too much current when it is trying to start. It is highly unlikely that the main board is bad.

Chesapeake, given your symptoms you'll be looking at installing a new Selector Switch. But, before you go there... UNPLUG THE UNIT OR SHUT OFF THE BREAKER!!! Your selector switch does two things at a time, It energizes the fan motor (which it IS doing) and energizes the compressor at the same time. The voltage to your compressor goes from the wall into the selector, out of the selector, through the temp control then to the compressor. When the temp control is satisfied, it interrupts power to the compressor. The click you hear is the temp control being NOT satisfied and trying to send power to the comp. But if there is "no power" to send (i.e., the selector switch has failed)the compressor won't know to engage. Remove the front panel and filter. Remove the control box housing. Remove the knobs from the controls. You will now see the selector switch. Remove the 2 screws that fasten it (don't remove the wire yet!) and install the new switch. Then, one wire at a time, remove the wires from the old switch and install them on the new one. ***If you have an OHM meter, check the temp control before ordering a selector because this may be the problem and NOT the selector! To do this... remove the 2 wires from the temp control, set the control to "coldest". Then with your meter, test OHM's between the terminals. If you see "zero" OHM's, it's good. If you see no change in your meter, it's bad and THIS is the source of your problem. If you don't have a meter... you can test using this procedure... cut a 6" length of wire and strip the ends to about 3/8", twist the copper ends tightly. Remove both wires from the temp control, then insert one end of your jumper wire into one terminal and the other end into the other terminal. Make sure the "jumpered" wires are away from anything metal!!! And plug the unit back in. Now turn the unit on. If the unit fires up? It's the temp control, If not? it's the selector switch. Heat stays on even when temp is cool and compressor doesn't work

Have a professional diagnose the communication between the main control board, and the timer.

Heatpump r-22 rudd system, unit runs starts out heating then compressor stops in middle of heating ,this unit has a out side air temp. sensor just wondering if possible bad board or not

If compressor stops in middle, check the following.
1.Thermostat setting must be minimum +3 degree than your room temp
2. Check it's in heat "mode"
3. Check indoor and outdoor coils are clean.
4. Check fan motor is working alright.
5. Outside sensor and room air sensor is placed correctly.
6. Gas pressure is o.k
7.Check compressor is overheated, even all the above is o.k.

We installed a new TCJD36 (3 TON) unit with new A coil. The unit works fine from morning until 4:30 PM. from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM the compressor does not come on. Inside fan goes on and outside unit fan...

This really sounds like the unit is over heating the compressor to the point of triping the internal high limit switch and just taking that long to cool off before it resets. If it continues to do this go outside and run your water hose over the compressor for at least 30 minutes to cool the compressor down and see if it starts for you then. If so then your unit could be over charged and creating very high head pressures!

RV Dometic Duo Therm roof top AC w/heat pump Model #630515.321El Serial #21631212 Yr. 2003. It is the rear unit, front unit working fine. In AC mode it is blowing hot air as if the heat pump is on. Fan...

If the Air comeing out is the same as the temp inside the RV make sure the compressor is running and not just the fans. It could be low on freon. If freon is ok then you would need to ck the wiring to the selector switch for a short. It would be obviouse because there will be melted wires. I am leaning toword low on freon since you have already been inside the wiring/control unit.

What makes heat change over to aux heat?

depending on how your installer wired it
when you turn the unit on, it could use both to get to temp as quickly as possible
when you are out of balance, the outside temp is lower than 20 degrees, not alowing any heat to be captured by the heat pump
or when your compressor goes inot lockout, but thats a rare wire situation
finally again depending on wire install and t sat as a user option

LG PTAC acting strange in heat mode

I believe the problem in lies in the dual stage heat mode setup on the thermostat, but the unit going into defrost does make the unit act kinda strange. Even more so than other types of equipment. I would suggest hiring a licensed HVAC service technician if the problem cannot be resolved by yourself.

I know this is late but I had to add a solution to this problem since I had the exact same problem and was able to solve it. The probelm is not your control board. On these units, the heat pump compressor will not kick in unless the temperature you set on the control panel is within 2-1/4 degrees (or 4 degrees depending on your unit model. Otherwise, the unit locks out the compressor until the electric heat coil bring the indoor temperature up to that level - and then will switch the compressor back on for heat pump operation. So the problem is not the control panel or the compressor, it the electric heat coil. The coil has two manual limit switches on it that may be tripped and should be checked. The coil can be easily accessed by shutting down the power, removing 4 screws around the air outlet, pushing the screen up and sliding the panel out the top. The power wires can remain in place while the limit switches are reset. Hope it works.

Short cycling

The most common cause is the fan relay on the main circuit board. However, if the outside temperature is 30degF and the inside is 60-65degF then the cause could be the insulation is ruined or missing on the backside of the unit's firewall. This can cause the unit's internal thermocouple wire to read below 45degF which is the freeze sentinal temp level. Anything below this temp level will cause the unit to come on for a few minutes to warm up the air and bring it to 46degF or higher to protect internal plumbing from freezing.
The best way to check for this is to manually set the unit to one of the heat modes and the thermostat up just until the heater comes on. Let it run until the unit turns itself off. Then set the mode switch back to Off and see if the unit still cycles on and off as before.
If it does then the main circuit board should be replaced unless you are comfortable de-soldering and re-soldering another fan relay in place.
