Question about HP 5510 4-in-one Printer
When I press the scan button on my HP5510 AIO it says "no scan options. you need to install or run HP software for feature...". Then when I open HP Image Gallery (which is how I have always been able to scan in the past when I get this message), it says "An error occurred communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the sanning device is connected properly and try again.'. My AIO prints, faxes, and copies just fine. I have it hooked up to a Dell Latitude D800 laptop running XP Professional. I did just recently hook this printer up to this computer and I dont' think I have scanned from it before. Is there some setup or driver I need? THis isn't a new printer, it was in my husbands office and is identical to the printer I had before, just my old one the flap that goes over the area where you change the cartridges has broken and has to be taped to stay in place so I figured I'd change.

Yes, it sounds as if you will need to install the drivers for this printer just to be sure all have been installed. I would double check your connection with another pc if possible, maybe there is some incompatibility issue as well. If this is an old pc, there could be a chance the driver's are not out there so i will look for you as well.. let me know if you were able to reinstall the driver's? i wouldn't uninstall anything until you know you have the copy of the disc you will need.. if not, goto hp.com and search for your printer's drivers.. good luck..d
