Computer or Monitor problem?

Okay, so i've had my computer for about a year and a half, and it normlaly runs great. But now, when i turn on the computer, the monitor wont come on. When i restart the monitor is says"No Signal".

I thought that maybe i should just replace the monitor but then i noticed another problem. When i turn on the computer, all of my external tools (keyboard, webcam, etc.) turn on, then immeidately turn off. Do i have a weak power supply or something? I thought maybe this is because i lost internet a while ago so maybe this is because my virus protectors haven't been able to update. Please help.

Seems like you have a bad motherboard. Try a different keyboard, mouse, and VGA cable, and see if it works. I fnot then you deffinitely need a new motherboard.

MONITOR WON'T STAY ON. not connected message then it goes off

Hook a spare monitor to the computer, if okay! problem in the original monitor, if both show the same symptom, it means the Video Graphics Card in the computer is defective. If possible change the video cord from the computer to the monitor, sometimes these cords fail.

ET1641-02W GET A NOT CONNECTED MESSAGE WHEN TURNED ON

Hook a spare monitor to computer, if okay! the original monitor is the issue, if symptoms are the same, it means the Video Graphics Card in the computer is bad, but to be sure, change video cable from the computer to the original monitor, if okay! video cord is the suspect.

Have a Pavilion Desktop HP with upgrade from vista to windows 7 ultimate. Turned the power on and no blue light and no monitor yet the fans were running. Computer monitor said no input and went back to...

Your computer has served you bravely and is now wounded in battle.

arfoob43 either your power supply has died or you computer mainboard is toast.

See my published guide dealing with this matter it is entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!!

To actually fix it requires a bit of electronics skill. First you will have to diagnose the component that has failed and then solder in the replacement component.

Take care

Montior screen is half shaded and half bright

Do this to check if your monitor is in working state or not...!

Step 1:- Turn on your computer.
Step 2:- Unplug the Video Cable of your monitor which is connected with the computer.

( Video cable:- Cable going from the back of your monitor to the back of your tower. It has a plug with two screws on the plug ends, which you can unscrew to unplug it. Thats how it looks like. Some times it is in grey in color some times in blue.)

Step 3:- Now check on your monitor. If the display says " No Input Signal " :- your monitor is fine. Some thing wrong with the computer graphics.
If there is not display and the monitor light is blinking or solid the monitor has gone bad.

( Note :- Remember when you unplug the video cable do not unplug the power cable of the monitor. )

Let me know if it helps.

Have HP slimline series. Came back from a break.

Try another monitor on it to verify it is the video card that has gone bad. If it does not work with another monitor then that is the likely culprit.

Dell Inspiron 531 (desktop) won?t turn on/boot

You've either got a bad motherboard or a bad processor (I'd lean to the motherboard being bad). I would honestly take this into a computer repair shop and have them check both.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.
