Xbox 360 unable to play

if you get a disc read error, or it wont play games at all this means that your DVD rom is bad. there is a few solutions to this. You can either

A. Send it back to microsoft and they will fix it for free if you still have your warranty
a.1 If your sticker underneath the face plate is still there, then your good to go. Send it to MS and have em' fix it.
a.2 If your sticker isnt there, then you can buy replacement lenses off of ebay and change it yourself.
a.3 You could just buy a new DVD rom, but theres a lot involved including taking the xbox apart and connecting the SATA cable to your computer VIA 18-25" SATA cable / SATA card. You will also need to download key extracting software to extract the key. You will also need a USB flash drive and make a boot sequence for your xbox. After you do all of this, then you extract the key, copy the boot, flash the drive and reboot your xbox. if all works, then your new dvd drive will be mated with your motherboard. If it doesnt work, then your going to have to try to flash the motherboard again.


Hope this helps. A.3 is a lot of work, so I would recommend to just buy a new dvd lense for it and replace it. there are a lot of tutorials that show you how to replace the lenses as well.
