I have reopened the cover again several times and it still is saying cover is opened. It does not allow me to use any of the buttons, to shut it off or to change the settings as well. I have unplugged the printer and disconnected all the plugs to reboot the system...nothing. The only thing it does when I unplug the printer and to replugged it back in is the ink cartridge shifts back and forth and stops in the middle as if its going to work, but again nothing. Please I need help!!!

printer will not respond. it says cover open.. close cover, will not turn off . a little plastic tab fell off and i turned printer upside down and it fell out. i took scanner cover off and replaced the tab to where i was told it belonged. it still don't work. guess i put back together wrong. what now? where does it belong soo it will work.

took it to 3 printer repair shops, they didn't work on small printers. and would then cha rge 82 dollars per hour.

any help would be appreciated or i will maybe get a new one.

It is a terminal/fatal problem. If you have warranty information and the product is less than 12 months old, call tech support and have it replaced.

I had the same problem (among many) for this poorly made printer immediately after I replaced the cartridge. I spent two hours with "Keith" from tech support (outsourced to India)--It was like talking to a computer from the 1970s. I initially told him I tried unplugging/restarting/reinstalling and what does he tell me to do?-unplug & restart several times. I understand that he is doing his best and this reflects more on Lexmark and the other companies trying to save a $ by paying low wages to people in other countries.

My printer was only three months old. After giving him date-of-purchase information. They sent me a 'refurbished' printer in about two weeks.

Just make sure that there's nothing under the cover where it 'snaps' back into place.

no worries, check for up to date printer drivers here

I have a X5470 Lexmark printer and it keeps telling me there is an alignment problem and is asking me to remove tape from the cartridges. There is no tape there that I can see.

It could be the cartridges in the carrier. Open the printer cover. Remove both cartridges. While the cover is open, check for any obstructions in the cartridge carrier's path. If all is well, close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first then close the cover. Check for any errors. Then, open the printer cover again and reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear. Or you can try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.

My printer keeps telling me that i have a system error. Remover paper jam then press start but nothing happens. Help

Where does this "system error" message appear? On your printer display or on your computer screen? Try to remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. Close the cover. Unplug and replug the printer into the power outlet to reset itself. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges. Then load some paper. Try to print again and see if the error appears again.

My printer keeps telling me I have a paper jam but there isn't a paper jam, I checked! I tried to reset it, but that didn't work. I don't know what the problem is but help me please!

open the cover of the printer find ,there is a leap switch which gets closed as you shut the cover of the printer just tilt it to required extent as it jets properly pressed on closing the cover .You'll get out of problem
.
or

check for bits of paper inside your printer as it may also be the reason.

Cover open message and there are no covers open

On Many of these printers, when you recieve this message chances are you either have a "BENT" limit switch sensor or the Tap on the Cover is "Broken or Broke off",
First Step open each cover and close them again sometimes the limit switch isn't being hit correctly by the door Tab

Second- as you open the covers their are tabs that must hit these sensors- make sure their not broken or bent.

Start their and tell me if these resolves the problem chance are the tabs are not hitting the switches correctly and not telling the samsung printer that the covers are closed.

MP600 - Says inside cover is open - but it's not!

This is a hardware problem nothing to do with software; somewhere inside the printer a cover is not closed correctly.
