Actually found a solution on an HP website it suggested removing and reseating the RAM before taking it anywhere. It worked. It was not very hard. Two screws on the back in the middle remove the door and the two sticks of Ram were right there one on top of the other a little overlapped. Each one is help in by 2 little metal tabs. Just lightly pull the tabs outword and the Ram pops up and you can gently pull it out of its slot. Repeat this with the other one as well then reverse the procedure and reinstall them. It took me 5 minutes and fixed what seems to be a fairly common problem with this model.

Disconnect the AC Power cord and then hold down the power button until the laptop cuts off completely then hold down the power button again until the laptop either comes on. This is done for about 15 to 20 secs.

Hi ive got a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with a black screen ,i have tried a external monitor and i have checked the ram but still black screen ,the lights are on and the fan is running..please help

Hi,

Just try to power cycle the unit by removing all power sources (battery, ac adapter) and pressing the power button for at least 15 seconds. If this will not work and you did not get an image from the external monitor, then you need your motherboard replaced.

Good luck.

Laptop will not turn on

Consider taking it for repair. The most common cause of this sort of problem can be: Bad capacitors (Bulging top/leaking) Blown resistors, diodes, transistors (They normally leave a black mark) or a fuse inside.

Your battery is critically low. Didnt you recharge your battery? Try turning it on with the external power source connected.

Power supply flashes green and no lights on laptop

Remove battery pack, press and hold power button for 5 seconds, then put battery pack back in and restart pc. This should take care of it. A bad memory stick can cause problems like this as well.

Laptop wont boot and the battery and power lights flash

a simple power cycle might work. Take out the battery but keep the ac power connected. hold the poewr button down for 1 minute. then hit the power button again and it should poewr back up. If this doesn' t work. iyou said hte battery light flashes so the problem isnt the battery..the problem might be hte ac power adapter..if you have a warranty this would be a good time to call them. Try the power cycle first though this fixes the problems lots of the time
