I get no picture on the monitor when connected to my desktop PC. I connected it to my laptop and set it up to clone the laptop monitor, still no picture. The laptop detected the second monitor, the brand/model, etc. It powers on and off just fine. Could the LCD itself have died???

check all connections. then separate the wiring so it doesn't touch. sometimes the cross-talk caused by wires touching can reroute the signals. good luck.
How you connect to your tv is not so much a matter of OS as it is dependent on what type of video connections are available on your laptop whether RGB, S-Video, mini-display port to DVI, or HDMI.
Once the tv is connected then you will need to right click your desktop and choose whether you want the tv to be a clone display (desktop to show on both your laptop screen and the tv, or use the extended desktop setting to have half the screen be on the laptop and the other half to be on flat screen tv.
OK ..the first thing you should check is the video driver to be installed..cause even if the main display will work without the video driver ...(only with the standard one from the operation system ) , the secondary monitor will not ...so ..check if you have the latest driver installed ..and if it is working ..If you are not sure of it ..just get to the manufacturer site ..and select the model of the laptop and the operation system ..and download the driver again and run it into the system ..restart and now you will know for sure you have it .. The next action is to try to activate the secondary monitor ..in case it is not activated..This is done from the settings of the video driver....either select video settings from the control panel ..or ..just click right on the desktop ..and select properties..and than settings ..(the last in the right 0 ..In there you have the video settings /display .. Open them ..and you should see 2 monitors displayed...The no 1 is the one you see on the laptop ..and no 2 is the one needed to be activated. Click ..on the secondary ...and click activate ...and select a way to function ...as a clone ..or extension ..(cloning means you will see the exact same thing on both ...and extension means that your secondary monitor will act like an extension of the primary one ..and you can set its position by dragging it ..and you can go with the mouse from one to another if you point on the edge between them depending on the position you select in the settings..) In short ..the important thing is to enable the secondary monitor ..and after that set it as you need.. Usually ..there is a hot key for to enable the monitor ..and it has a monitor sign on it ..and if you press Fn + hot key ..it enables it automatically ..this key can be F5 or F4 or F8 or F10 ..depending on the model and settings .....Please rate teh answer if it helps...have a nice day !
from the video card control pannel set up the projector to clone, so will show the same image to desktop and to projector to, if yout software from projector let you i think u will got same settings..clone display
If the laptop is not connected to an external monitor, this happens. You may need to change the display settings of your computer. Right click on the desktop background then there should be an option for Graphics Option. There you would find the option to clone your computer. Turn it off. That should work
* If the issue is visible in the monitor STFC (Self-Test Feature Check), the monitor is defective.
* If not, the issue is with either the video card driver or the video card.
* Turn off both your PC and monitor
* Disconnect the monitor from the PC (either the white DVI or the blue VGA. They should never be connected at the same time to one PC)
* Turn the monitor on
* The floating Dell red/green/blue/white dialog box should appear on a black background
* Check for the issue
Good morning! kindly try to review/check the operations manual of your monitor as there might be proper set-up settings / compatibility requirements to a certain PC. best regards
Assuming that you have Audio already functional, the solution is to set your system to "Clone" rather than "Extend" video. Right click on desktop > properties > settings > click on second monitor > uncheck extend monitor box (below). Click ok, press Fn + F8 to Clone.
