I have updated the drivers from device manager and it didn't help.

How do I solve the case of a loose connection with the motherboard? I suspect that must be the case.

    Thanks for your efforts

he usb port has a set of wires connected to the pins on the motherboards......

what you have to do is to trace the wire from the port and see if the ends are fixed on the motherboard or not....

USB not recognised

Go into your device manager by clicking Start/Control Panel and from there it depends on your operating system as to where the device manager is. In Windows XP they are under System\Hardware. Once you are in the device manager look for Universal Serial Bus Controllers and if you have a + next to it, click it to expand it. See if any item has a ? on it. If so right click on it and select Update Driver.

If all are ok, then maybe you need to try a different USB Port. If all ports act that way you might be experiencing a motherboard issue with the usb controller.

Are you ever getting a message such as "Your device could work faster if you plug it into a 2.0 usb port"? If so, that might be contributing to the problem. Fortunately for you on a desktop you can put in a fast 2.0 usb port card into one of the pci slots on the back of the computer. So, all is not lost.

I have an HP Media Center PC m7330n. It recently was infected with a host of viruses and rootkits. I eliminated all the viruses and rootkits with a battery of anti-virus programs. Everything works as...

Hi there,

You might want to try to go to the device manager and go to the Universal Serial Bus controllers

Try to uninstall everything and restart the computer.

See if that will let the computer recognise the USB ports.

If that does not work, you might want to reinstall the chipset drivers of your motherboard.

Hope this works for you.

Usb ports do not work. Windows does not recognize them.

IT may be time for a new systemboard. This is a common recall issue with the dV6000. If you wanted to be sure, you could reinstall windows just to verify everything is okay there.

Hi,

Right click on the yellow flag and uninstall the corrupt driver. Restart the computer, plug a USB device in and it should be resolved. If not post back.

USB ports not working, slow computer

The error you are getting is the USB port driver. I suggest disconnecting ALL of the items you have connected to ALL of the USB ports and rebooting. If the computer reboots normally, go back and install ONE and ONLY one USB device. Restart your machine. If it boots OK, shut down, remove that device and connect another one, restart again. Do this for EACH of the USB devices until you find one that causes the computer to boot slowly and/or generates the error message. That one is the culprit and needs to be repaired before reattaching to your system.

If, however, after removing all of the USB devices initially and rebooting, you still get the error message, then you have a USB driver problem. You will need to remove the USB driver and reinstall from a known good location (like HP's website) to fix the driver problem.
