Your keyboard is probably set to the wrong region.

Start, control panel,Regional and language options, languages, details.

select united kingdom keyboard and delete the usa one.

this is right for XP - If your using Vista it might be different.

Also I bet the @ key will give you a " sign so this could be a temporary fix

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

It sounds like num lock is turned on. On your keyboard hold the FN key and then press the symbol for num lock. This should clear the issue up.

Go to control panel and check the regional and language settings. make sure it all says English and/or United States, if you are in the states that is, otherwise the keyboard will be different.

Two keyboard keys seem to have been transposed

Yes when going through the setting up procedure for your new computer you should have installed the British keyboard instead of the US one.

Doing the above will correct your problem.

Computer keyboard.

The problem does not lie in your keyboard, but rather the keyboard layout settings. Go to control panel, keyboard options and select the standard US settings.
