Question about Philips DIRECTV R15

1 Answer

Sound but no picture

When I first turn my tv on in the morning it always reverts to the tv setup screen. I have to scroll down to the exit button on the left side, then over to the right side to the exit button and push exit. Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not.

When you hit the second exit button, the screen flashes and then goes off again to the setup screen.

I have tried the reset button the DVR, sometimes that works.

There is one solution you could try first.. what you have to do is force a software upgrade on the unit.. How you do this is reset the receiver and when it says"your directv receiver is starting up" on the remote type 0 2 4 6 8 then it should say new sofware found and let it finish the update and that may solve the issue.. if that doesnt email me pimp_on@yahoo.com

There are many different models. If this is an LCD screen press "menu" on remote, scroll down to the picture that looks like a satellite dish, scroll right and click ok on auto tune. TV will search for the channels you can receive in your area.

Cannot record and it has wiped off all previous recordings, maybe something I pressed but i cannot find out how to put right.

If you have trouble bringing up the diagnostics it is usually caused by not timing the button presses just right, maybe press ok two or three times as soon as the box goes off.

The recording light being on when the box is off is a setting in the menu called RF Bypass. Press menu button twice to bring up the full screen menu, arrow down to setup press ok, arrow down to cable box setup press ok, arrow down to RF bypass (if it is on, turn it off by pressing the right arrow), then press exit to get out of the menu.

Dish menu but no picture or sound

Try holding the power button in on the receiver until the picture goes away then turn it aloose it will reboot and your sound will usually come back. If you had rather and can get to it unplugging it from the electric outlet, the receiver, does the same thing.

Didivox in cork area

If you box is on MMDS/Teresterial:

You should download the firmware "digivox_ter_v3300.bin" and put this on your box using downloaded10.exe (This will automatically fix your problem)

(You should be able to find the file by using Google.)

1. Connect to Internet.
2. Search for the files named above
3. Save / Download the files
4. Get the cable to connect your box to the PC.
5. Connect PC to Digivox via the serial port using an RS232
cable.
6. Turn on Digivox & then turn on PC.
7. Open loader software “DOWNLOADER 10”
8. Check settings and parameters. Defaults are usually correct.
9. Browse for bin file (digivox_ter_v3300.bin )
For all files and the downloader 10 click this link http://eko.4shared.com/ and hit digivox

and select.
10. Check “app file” (default).
11. Click “download”
12. A progress bar will appear. Wait for “download complete “ window to pop-up
13. Turn off Digivox and PC then disconnect.

Enabling Key Emulator

1. Connect Digivox to TV (usually scart), cable feed and power on.
2. Perform full auto-scan.
3. Go to “main menu”
4. Scroll down to “System Information”, press “OK” to enter System Information menu.
5. On your remote control press “ 1 0 0 4 ” (ignore what happens on the screen)
6. “Key Emu” will now be visible on the screen.
7. Change “Key Emu” to ON
8. Exit menus and return to TV mode.
9. Go to a scrambled / encrypted channel and wait for update process to complete.
10. Scrambled channels should now be unlocked.

Problems with no sound
To get back sound on e4 sky1 ect just select the channel in question press menu, select installation, select manual scan, click ok on down frequency. It'll now scan for channels when its finished exit back to normal tv viewing screen go to the end of your channel listing and the desired channel will be there with sound. This can be done on any channel with no sound by just selecting that channel following the instructions above

No picture, no sound

we need a request on what the blinking red light means on your model number and manufacturer of TV, we can then try to see what the blinking light means,(although it doesn't sound good) You ca always unplug the DVR and see if there is a change, then you would know it was the DVR
Thanks for the rating

Connecting DIshNetwork TV2 to a Panasonic Viera TV (Mdl#TH-42PD50U)

I am assuming you eliminated the vcr so if the cable is directly to the tv try changing the channel to a number beyond 69. If you are able to do this you will need to go to the tv with the receiver and turn them both on and press the menu button on remote 1 then press 6-1-5. This will be the modulator setup screen. Move the highliter to the left and select 73 cable. Move highlight back to right to done and exit ti live tv. Check tv2 now and see what you have ON CHANNEL 73. If you do not find picture and sound there try scrolling up to 116. Let me know the results.

THIS IS THE SOLUTION: (

If you press HDMI button on remote you get a blank screen (but the DVD still has sound)
Press it again and nothing appears to happen (although apparently the DVD is switching to another mode)
Press the button yet again and WAIT (I counted to 10!) then the DVD reverts back to AV or whatever you call "normal" tv and everything is OK again! (on some models you might have to press the HDMI button a fourth time but the message is to wait a bit for the DVD introductory screen to appear - it does not happen instantly)

Cannot down TV Schedule

1. Press Menu on the remote. 2. Choose Setup from the menu. 3. Scroll to Connect to ReplayTV Service Now. 4. If you don't have this option try this. For ReplayTVs running older software: 1. First, exit any menus you're currently in. 2. Press "2-4-3" on the remote followed quickly by pressing the "Zones" button - this will launch an informational screen, with like a 1-Exit, 2-Clear the Channel, etc. 3. Select #7, 'Net Connect' from the menu. (#4 on ReplayTV 2000 or 3000 series). A message at the bottom of the tv screen will indicate a successful connection. If you are unable to force a connection using this method, you may need to reboot your unit. This is done by pressing and holding the "Power" button on the front of the unit for 10 seconds. (Note: When you hear the fan in the rear of the unit turn off, your unit is rebooting.) Now repeat the previous instructions to force a connection. This is all found on the support site: http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/replaytv/document.asp?docID=87
