I dont think its supposed to copy data in a boot process
copying and booting are totally different processes
Did you mean to say you have hdd issues

If you mean a pin for the IDE connection you should be able to solder one back into the same place, you shouldn't need a diagram, also circuit diagrams would be very hard to come by.

Samsung sp0802n hdd, failure is imminent back up data and replace. wont let me, just goes back to the BIOS screen.

The disk is about to fail and Windows is corrupted. Boot from a Linux Live-CD and copy all your data to an external hard disk. Then replace the hard disk with a new one and junk this one, reinstall Windows and copy all your files from the external hard disk in the new internal one.

Troubling in sata connection

  • I suppose there is a jumper(beside the power pin) on your new HDD,
  • if its true the your HDD supports 3GB/s mode but your motherboard does not .
  • So place the jumper on the HDD on 1.5GB/s combination.
then
  • Disconnect the 80 GB,
  • Connect the new HDD,
  • Boot from any bootable xp or vista or any disk tool like erd commander and try to format the new HDD.
  • Then connect the new HDD and boot from it.
Tell me what happened.

80 gb hdd could not be detected any how. i have tried every possible way. but could not succeed. i have imp data in it & i want to retireve. Please help

hello,
first boot the pc and enter bios setup then see it shows the your hard disk if not then
plz check the jumper settings for proper way to attach the hard disk to pc. here is another way to operate your hard disk to use this hard disk only one data cable. another peripheral like cd rom and dvd you have to remove.
if you do all this then check it another pc and copy your data to another pc then you use the pen drive or external hdd to backup
thanks
ramesh

Bad sectors and fails under minor load

No it's not repairable. Copy any data you want from it to another drive, cd, dvd, etc. Go to www.seagate.com and fill out a warranty RMA form. If it's warranty you'll get a new one from Seagate
