Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Hi, My Indesit WIDL 102 is faulty. It washes OK, But does not dry at all. I dont think it heats up during the drying time, but the drum does turn round. Is there a thermal reset switch on the inside somewhere? Many thanks, Stu. I have checked the bit bottom front panel section and it is clear.

I don't know your dryer model, but I assume it is electric. Electric dryers have a heater coil like a toaster which eventually wears out and doesn't get hot anymore. This is typical and is likely the case especially if your dryer is old or has been used alot. Has the dryer been taking longer and longer to dry before it lost all heat? If so, I bet it is the heater coil.

Indesit IS70C tumble dryer not heating

This caused by one of two possible things. Either you have poor air flow, or a clogged vent preventing air from flowing freely and therefor making the dryer short cycle, which in turn will take you two or three times to dry yor clothes, or the heating element has gone bad, burnt in half and is making contact with the case to provide it just enough power to barely heat. The second thing is a very rare occurance. I would turn the dryer on, find out where the air vents out to, and with the dryer running, go to where it vents and check to see if there is a strong flow of air. 9 times out of 10 that is going to be your problem. Another way to check air flow is to just pull the vent off the back and let the dryer run and see if your clothes dry faster. If you do it that way and they still take a long time to dry, then you'll probably need to replace the heating element

My dryer is producing heat but is not drying, i am drying the same size load i usually do on the same cycle. the lent is cleaned out, and the oustide vent is blowing hot air. why are my clothes not getting...

make sure that all the seals are ok, door, front and back drum seal, blower housing seal(inside dryer). also consider that depending on washer type if you overload or have a worn drive belt in washer it will take twice the time to dry. also make sure that the dryer drum tumble. open door, press door switch and start dryer to see if drum turn. lastly disconnect vent pipe behind dryer and dry a load. if it dry ok then you have a partial blockage. you can also have a weak heating element.

I have an indesit widxl146 washer drier and the machine takes an age to dry clothes, 9 hours as oppose to 2 hours when new

9 Hours!!! I hope it isn't because the clothes are too wet because if it is I wouldn't like your electricity bill!!
There are a number of things you need to check.
I assume that you are not overloading the machine, and that you are using the correct spin cycle
Don't start the drying cycle directly after the wash, take out the clothes and see how dry they are after the wash, you need to ascertain if it is spinning the load sufficiently fast to dry them. How dry are they directly after the spin? If they are not wetter than they should be then the dryer is not getting hot enough during the drying cycle, this could be due to a faulty thermostat or element.
Make sure all the filters are clean including the pre chamber down below so that it can pump out the water (I guess it must be clear if it is washing ok? but check anyway.
The principal parts involved, assuming that
Also check that you haven't got a delay set for the dryer (unlikely I know but I thought I would mention it anyway)
I hope that helps.

My dryer heats up but is not drying my laundry.. What's wrong?

here is a fuw things to check first,,,, is the vents clear the dryer need to breath freely,,,is the drum turning around freely and not sticking due to belt slip,,, how dry are the cloths going ino the dryer,,,,(as the winer is here the air going in is cooler so takes more heat to warm it up) uk temp -2 degrees??? cold! how much are you putting in it? can it tumble freely,,,(no big knots in it?) try turning the heat up to full heat? and drying for longer,,,if all that fails,,,dont do any more washing??

Indesit Widl 102 Flashing lights, wont turn on

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It seems to be the issue with the Thermal Fuse going bad and/or its panel that is going bad. To start with check the Thermal fuse which is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment with a more detailed question including the manufacturers name and model no# for your dryer so that I can further assist you.

Thanks

Indesit 1570c - it heats but the drum does not turn...

You probably have a broken belt. You have to remove the shell and reroute the belt. You can do it yourself for bout 20 bucks...Good luck. Look in your manual for proper routing of the belt. good luck.

Thumping noise in atlantis dryer after drying heavy mattress pad

Have you husband do a visual inspection of the drum and literally feel it to see if anything is caught or stuck on the drum. The motor also may have something caught in it as well. This would be the motor that turns the drum.
