This will happen if your chat is active on your mail page. If it loads, it will automatically sign you out of the instant messenger program that's not on your web browser.
In order to prevent this in the future, deactivate chat and mobile text on your Yahoo mail tab by setting it to unavailable. If you're permanently unavailable via the browser window, then Messenger will not log you out.
i fthe computer do not allow you to access the yahoo messenger try to stay on line on the web version of the yahoo messenger ..This is just a web page and I think they do not thought to restrict it .. Here is the log in page .. (it is about the same and even allow to keep archives ...its just a little simplified ..) http://webmessenger.yahoo.com/ By the way ..the reason you can not log from the computer directly ..is probably cause you do not have an administrator account ..and the program is firewall-ed or something like that .. Good luck !
Yahoo mail has chat activated and when you log into email it logs into Chat as well and that's why Yahoo Messanger logs you out because you cannot have two instances of it running. To fix this, on Yahoo Mail screen, under Chat & Mobile Text, select Sign out of Chat and it will show I'm Offline. In this way it won't kick you out of Yahoo Messenger anymore.
Hi, we now have several locations that are capable of accessing the Yahoo Instant Messaging feature. Yahoo Messenger itself, plus Yahoo Web Messenger, Yahoo All New Mail, My Yahoo, your Mobile phone, plus any other computer.etc etc. Yahoo classifies all these programs as different 'locations or devices' Yahoo currently do not allow you to have 2 open and active at the same time. If you have one open, and then move to another, one will close and you get a message telling you that you have been signed out. You CAN have Messenger and Mail open together as long as your status is set to "offline" in MAIL by using the drop-box next to your name and selecting 'Sign out of chat'. ( your chat contacts will remove themselves from the inbox until you make yourself 'available' again.) Please note: You may think you are signed out of Messenger when this is not the case. Hitting the 'X' when you close the Messenger page does not sign you out of Messenger it only closes that page - you have to Exit Messenger by right clicking the icon in the system tray.and selecting 'Exit' I suggest you make this setting. > (left click) Messenger > Preferences > General - check box "sign out of Messenger when I close the main window" > Apply > OK. If the above does not apply and you suspect your account is being used by a hacker. When you get signed out, close all your Yahoo programs and type your name into this software. Hit "GO" and hopefully it will show you as "offline". If not, contact Yahoo customer services
These days when you log in to your yahoomail along with the messenger then your are logged out from one of the service. So this problem might be becuase of you logging in both the chatting service from yahoomail as well as messenger
try to login to the yahoo webmail and check whether you are able to login to chat from there , If yes Safe boot the computer and remove yahoo chat from your comp and restart and reinstall yahoo chat programme You can also try from different chat browsers which support yahoo like Koolim.com - just to check if it is not and issue with your browser or chat programme
