Hey folks, we bougth a 42 inch Phillips Plasma tv in 2004. Very nice quality picture, but about 3 years ago the blinking red light started. Has worked intermediately since then. Sometimes it works, others times no. Very frustrating.

Six months ago, went out completely and after a month of trying just about everything, decided to replace it with an LG LCD tv that we bought in 06. The picture on the LCD is not as nice as the plasma. As I was unplugging and moving cords, I realized that the LG had a much heavier duty power cord than the Plasma. Tried the Plasma one more time (including plugging and unplugging, different outlets, etc), and still blinking. Took the cord off the LG, plugged into the Plasma and it worked. No problem since.

So, at a minimum try switching out the power cord or buy a newer more heavy duty cord first. You can always return the cord if it does not solve the problem. Shame to throw away a 3K tv over a powercord. If this is really the problem, shame on Phillips for cheaping out.

My one take too long to turn on, relay/green light on and off for hours before it can start, I use a hair dryer to heat it up everytime, aim at the center from top, then it turn on very faster, no need to service

The blinking light is a POST (power-on self-test) diagnostic code indicating a serious problem preventing the TV from completing it's start-up. You may get the POST codes from your user documentation or sometimes the Mfrs website.

Turning on my phillips tv the power button is blinking red

Plasma? Your power supply has bad capacitors. 3300uf most likely. This is a common problem on some Philips plasma TVs. Power board is located top center of the TV with the rear access panel removed. look toward the lower left portion of the board. If you notice any capacitors (they look like little plastic wrapped cans) with swollen tops or leaking dark fluid from the top of them, replace them. Myself, I always step up the voltage rating... ex: 3300uf, 10v -> 3300uf, 16v.

I have Dish Network Remote but there is no LG TV Code. How can I get?

8006
Thats a goldstar code and the buzz on the web is it works 50% of the time.

I just found this as well never tried it but it may work good luck

you want to know the code to put in just do these steps:
1. press and hold the tv button till the all the top buttons turn red
2. press the # button twice
3. the tv light will blink out the code to you. It will blink the first number then a pause then blink the 2nd number then a pause then blink the third number. For Sony2.gif you will see 5 blinks, pause, short blink, pause, short blink. (short blink means a zero) the code for sony is 500
4. Thats it!

Tv wont turn on and automatically shuts down

I'm having the same issues with my phillips flat panel. I downloaded the firmware update from phillips and that helped...but only once. I'm back to the same issue this morning. But you might try this download...it may work for you.

42'plasma phillips tv

I had the same problem and fixed with a great online tutorial. Just replace 3 capacitors available at Radioshack onthe the board. 2662, 2663, 2664 1 is a 1000uf the others are 100uf. Max Volts need to be over 25. It worked great, check http://dynamicorange.com/2008/06/25/fixing-a-plasma-tv/
