that's common with all depth finders when on plane you loose bottom lock when you slow down to stop does it start to work again if so you have no problem

Sounds like the transducer is installed at the wrong angle or in such a way that it is getting a lot of air from something on the hull. If it is a transom mount, check that it is angled correctly and not too close to the motor or aft of some kind of thru-hull fitting that will cause turbulence.
