SOURCE: I have an ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard socket LGA775
Hi,
To answer your question, yes it's possible.
I'm sure you wouldn't like it if I left it at that, so I'll explain a bit more.
It's about as simple as this: The processor you want to install into the motherboard is for an LGA 775 mobo such as yourself. Therefore, it should have no problems when you put it in.
Hope I was of assistance.

I know Asus motherboards well. The P5S800-VM motherboard uses, Realtek 100/10 Mbps Ethernet Controller. (Its not a card) it is intergrated into the motherboard. Download and install, Realtek RTL8100C Ethernet Device Driver V5.505.1004.2002 directly from Asus. Open the link provided below;
http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=ZcyLktAZjt2bXqgs&content=specifications
Open the dropdown menu and click on you're operating system. There you will see a list of drivers. Click the + sign next to word LAN. You'll see the driver for RTL8100C. Download and install.
Cheers'
