Question about HP Business Notebook NX9110 Notebook

1 Answer

NX9119 The laptop overheats and shuts down. Several trips to HP service centres have proved fruitless. It appears one fan, I think the processor fan is not functioning correctly. The laptop gets quite hot and shuts down. It is virtuall useless as it is.

Hi,
The Laptop Shuts Down, Due the Processor Reaching It,s Heat Limitations, as set by the Bios/Motherboard Et,c. This Is A Safety function to Avoid Any Further Damage To The CPU Or Other internal Hardware. If the CPU Fan is not functioning, this is likely the cause. To Remedy this Problem, you,d look at removing the faulty fan ( Replace With New ) Or fully functioning Fan. And replacing the thermal Patch Or Paste, Between The CPU ( Processor ) And Heatsink Or Mating surface Between CPU/FAN.
I,d suggest not using the Laptop, until this has been repaired, as you will only cause more damage, which in turn. will become unrepairable. or very costly.

My hp dv6449us laptop powers up and shuts down immediately how to fix please

Your laptop is getting HOT because the cooling fan may not be cooling the processor. All it takes is about 15 seconds to overheat the processor. Need to get it serviced.

Laptop shuts itself down after 20 minutes.

Check the cooling fan. Not just the fan itself but all the airways and metal fins that it blows air over. This often requires removal of the fan itself. PC and laptop fans act like little vacuum cleaners!

What would cause my aspire 5630 to shut down sporadically?

Shut down sporadically, caused by rising temperatures on the processor (processor overheat). Processor overheat, caused by damage to the processor fan. Processor fan function to reduce the processor temperature.

Possibilities and solutions
1. The possibility of sluggish processor fan. Processor fan spins, with a low speed, so it can not reduce the processor temperature.
Solution: clean the processor fan with a vacuum cleaner, or replace the processor fan.
2. The possibility of fan processor die.
Solution: replace the processor fan.

The characteristics of damage to the processor fan
After the laptop is turned off (more than 1 hour), the laptop can turn on and survive + - 30 minutes. In the period of + - 30 minutes, the laptop died suddenly, because the processor temperature exceeds safe limits (shut down temperature).

How to check
Laptop is turned off (more than 1 hour), then turn on. Download and install software to check the processor temperature. Ex. Real Temp 3.60. See the change in temperature. If the temperature continues to rise, it can certainly cause damage to the processor fan.
- Normal temperature, when first turned on + - 38oC
- Normal temperature, after turn on for hours 40oC - 45oC
- Temperature overheat processor, when first turned on 60oC - 65oC

Hi. I have a HP laptop for about 3 months and now it gives me the message " a cooling factor is not working properly" , and it shuts down 15 minutes later. what should I do? Should I go to the...

The laptop should be covered since it is only three months old. That's the good news. The less than good news, is that you may have to wait a while before you get your computer back.

I don't have the laptop in front of me, so naturally I can't diagnose the problem directly.
I would hazard an intelligent guess that the Cooling Fan inside the laptop has failed.

Components inside a computer are normally cooled by air. (High tech gamer computers may use a different type of cooling system. They may use water, or a refrigerant of some sort. { Dry Ice, Nitrogen, Freon, etc)

Two main computer components generate the most heat.
The Processor, and the graphics chipset. (Video chip, Same/same)

The Processor is the 'Brain' of the computer. It's designed to operate up to a maximum temperature, (Thermal Limit), and no higher, or damage to the Processor will result.

There is a Fail Safe feature built-in to turn the Processor off, if it becomes too hot.
(BIOS turns the Processor off)

With no cooling fan operating the Processor will overheat.

You didn't indicate what model name, and model number your HP laptop is.
This is to just show you what an average cooling fan looks like in an HP laptop,
(HP DV6 series ), and what is entailed in order to access it,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassemble-hp-pavilion-dv6-laptop/

Scrolling down to Step 24, and 25 shows the top view of the cooling fan.
Step 29 shows the bottom view.

Would appreciate hearing the outcome, please reply in a Comment.

I have an hp notebook... model no cq50 106au.... of late my note book can run only for about 15 minutes and then shuts down. i think its due to processor over heating. anyways i gave my laptop to the HP...

When the CPU overheats then it will shutdown (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down.If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.

Hi,
It seems your laptop fan is not functioning. The computer shuts down automatically when the CPU overheats. I suggest you take your laptop to HP Service Centre and get the fan replaced.

Overheats (I think) then screen goes black, yet the computer is still on. Have to then press the power button to shut it down.

use a VGA cable to connect the laptop to an external monitor. put them on, does any picture appears on the monitor? if not, replace your RAM and or processor. if picture did appear, then buy a new screen and replace with the old.

I am Using HP dv 4 I have a problem that when i plugin the ac adopter it shows that it is plugeed in but not charging

Shut down the system. Take the battery off. Leave it for half an hour. Re-connect the battery and plug-in. Charging stops if the processor fan is being blocked. Use surfaces like table to use ur laptop. Don't use it on bed.
If problem persists contact service centre.

Turns itself off & gets hot -don't think fan is kicking on

Since you do not hear the fan anymore I would start by opening up the case and seeing if power is going to the fan and make sure any connectors for it have not come loose. If the connectors are still hooked up chances are the fan is shot and needs to be replaced.

If you are not familiar with working around electronics and parts under power I would highly suggest you have some one who is familiar with this do it.

Toshiba boots up power light stays on and shuts down, bad m/b ?

I own a Laptop Toshiba Satellite A75-S2131.
This series have a problem with the cooling flow to the processor.
The processor overheats and the laptop shuts down.To solve this particular problem you must tear down the laptop and clean up the processor heatsink (you will find it totally plugged or partially dirty).
Find in the internet the step by step instructions (with photos) for dismantling this laptop. Do not forget to apply thermal paste between processor & heatsink.

I hope this solution helps.
