Want to turn off touchpad, because it disturbs my writing

You can disable the touchpad of your laptop by clicking the "Disable Device" in the Touch Pad setting. You can even disable the touchpad from the BIOS setup [press F2 or del when the computer starts to enter BIOS settings].

I just bought a MSI Wind U100-649ca Netbook Computer on ebay and the only problem is that the touchpad is worn out. I also have an Acer Aspire 5570Z and the touchpad works perfectly. The thing is I want to...

You can't exchange touchpads, The reason for this is the ZIF line usually has a different pinout. How ever you can fix the touch pad by cleaning the contact where it slides into the motherboard and you should be good to go. You should find all the connections right under the keyboard and they should be easy to open and clean out, make sure you re-seat them completely and if that does not work make sure you have the latest drivers for your system and the touchpad installed. If non of those help you can easily find a replacement touchpad unit off ebay as well for your MSI laptop.

Touch pad mouse will not move

There will be a button above the touch pad or using function key to disable it. try both and find out which is the prob. Some drivers may not installed properly. Run the touchpad driver in administrator mode and if you are having the xp driver set to xp sp3 compatible mode.

Mouse pad not working

A mouse pad is a thing you put your mouse on....

now what you are talking about is your touchpad.

Check these first:

  • some laptops have a switch that turns off the touch pad (usually a button right on the topside of the touchpad)
  • did you reboot completely? full shutdown, then power on?
  • goto the device manager (with a usb mouse of course) and find the touchpad... delete the device... then reboot again it should try and find the touchpad and ask for the driver, point it to the directory that you have the driver located.
good luck!

I have recentley wiped my harddrive and installed windows vista ultima my laptop is acer 5715z since i did this i cant find the options to turn the tapping off on my mouse pad it really gets on my nerves...

Sounds like the touchpad driver you have is not the right one. Having a compatible one and the right one is the difference between XP and Vista. Also, sometimes on some laptops above, or below your touchpad, there should be a button. if you push the button, it should toggle between on or off..Or try to disable the "tap" feature in System Configuration, Peripherals, Touch Pad and be sure to click "Apply".

You can modify the xorg.conf file as follows,
As root edit:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
In the touchpad stanza add the following lines...
Option "TapButton" "0"
Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
Then edit:
Option "VertScrollDelta" "0"
(if it wasn't already)
Save it, logout, reboot.

Last resort is to search microsoft knowledge base or your pc manufacturer. That seems to be a growing problem in vista but not seen in XP.

Acer laptop touch pad suddenly stops working

Many touch pad issues can be fixed by installing the generic Synaptic touchpad driver. Since it's not working now anyway, no loss: http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers

My Acer 5630s media button on the right and the touchpad's scroll doesn't work anymore!

This looks like u have trouble with drivers, if u familiar with drivers then try to follow this link http://www.acer.com/public/home.jsp look for support and Downloads - Downloads - in Bios utilities & applications select ur Location - Driver Downloads - Select ur model - look for Touch Pad Drivers.

If the above is difficult to follow up try using ur recovery disc, which came with ur Laptop.

How can I disengage the extremely sensitive touch pad on my Gateway notepad T-6321.c I find that almost every time I try to input data or write a message, if I even barely touch the touch pad by accident,...

Hello my name is Jei and I hope this helps you out.

Some touchpads have a button located above them. Usualy a small bar. This turns the pad on and off.

Otherwise you may be able to disable the touchpad in the bios. (Consult manual for specific instructions)

Another way is to place a thick piece of paper or cardboard over the touchpad area and securing it with clear tape or a nice sticker.

Alternative methods include taking the computer apart and disconnecting the touch pad, but this should only be done by someone who understands who a laptop comes apart and has the space and tools to do it properly.
