Question about Akai LCT2662 Television

1 Answer

No standby LED and no power when turned on

The power board is a mess with what appears to be capacitor leakage over alot of it.Some caps appear damaged but I won't see that until they are un- soldered and checked.I can't believe that AKAI uses such trash compo- nents in their TVs.I did get the schematics for the TV but many component
part numbers differ from what is mounted on the board.

If the caps are bulged out on the top, then they are bad. I usually replace all nine of them just to be on the safe side. Also, you might want to check your 5vdc standby voltage while it is still hooked to the main board. I have ran across a few with no standby light that is caused from a short (which I can't seem to find) on the main board. The voltage always reads 2.8vdc instead of 5vdc on these. Hope this helps.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Not worked on this model but they are all similar.
You may have a fault on another board which is shutting down the power board. Usually dried up or blown capacitors

Hello,
Check the power supply; look for bad caps with leaking/bulging tops, check to see if you have standby 5vdc at the power supply connector, the front red indicator will not be on if you do not have this +5vdc standby voltage due to shorted out power transistor and zener diode, but if otherwise, Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Power Issue

Now,u plug in the tv u get a solid red standby power red LED light in the front of the LCD panel right? When u push the power button on the remote u hear a clicking sound?Only one clicking sound, not the power supply board problems. It the Tuner board problems. But u can make sure it the power board problems or not.By taking the tv aparts check the power board, that board where the a/c power cord goes into it.Look all around the power supply board check for these leakage capacitors, they alway bulges up it top or puff up it top.No bad leakage capacitors, then it not the power supply board problems.

Power on

The problem is with the power circuit board components . The capacitors have gone bad. A pop sound is created due to the burn out of the capacitors..Faulty capacitors can be identified either by using an continuity tester or by appearance that i will be bulged at the top...

Most probably the burned out part which created the pop sound must have created a burned appearance in that area. Just check it out...

If you are an novice in working with the circuit board please take it to a technician who will be able to desolder the components and solder it again..
