Question about Intel Desktop Board D845WN Motherboard

1 Answer

Nothing will flat out turn on! The whole thing is just dead!

Hello, well my desktop is not working at all.
I remember the summer '07, i think I left it on and then I turned it off. After that, the computer would not turn on! I press the power button, nothing. The motherboard would no turn on, and the fan won't turn on either...just flat out nothing!
I looked inside, there is no green light like it usually did when it did work (sorry I don't have a lot of computer knowledge of parts and all that stuff, but I do somewhat lol)
The power cord is plugged in, but there is just no power. I don't get how it would just turn off like that! please help! I have so many important files there and I don't want to go to a professional b/c I don't have that kind of money since I'm a poor college student lol
I keep thinking it has something to do this these colored cords. There is "Power LED" "Power reset" and "power reset". I dunno that maybe I unplugged them, but I don't really recall. Dunno if this has anything to do with the problem, but I just wanted to put that out there

    so check for PSU

disconnect all cables of psu after that 20pin atx connector find out green wire and sort to green and black {using upin or any other metal conductor} if your fan has started so your psu is ok

if can't turn on so replace power supply

all think do it after all power connector remove

Hello i think your graphic card is dead.
Try to renew it.

Here is a list of beep codes:

It sounds like one long and 8 short beeps.
This means that the graphic card is failing.

Good luck

Any abnormal beeps at startup ???

http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

The problem could be a ram module failing, or the graphic card if installed on the mainboard.
Or a short circuit somewhere.

Look also here:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/243625-13-turns-wont-boot

Try starting with only 1 stick of Ram, the monitor and the keyboard connected, no other USBs to be connected.

Look also for bad caps on the mainboard:

If they look like this, the mainboard is dead.
It does not pay, to let them be changed.

Good luck

Hello i think your power supply is dead.

Try to replace it with one you know is working.

Here is the gigabyte homepage:

Try to download a manual after you find the right mainboard.

It really sounds like SP3 installing was coincidental. You're not getting to the point that Windows even starts,so it becomes a hardware issue.
Sometimes laptop batteries are hidden under panels and boards you remove to get at things below.
Since you've already taken the machine apart, try it again looking under everything you remove.Remember that laptops don't necessarily use the standard size desktop battery, they're usually smaller.
Make sure Everything is plugged back in when you put it back together.
Other than that, you could very well have a bad Ram stick, try using them one at a time in the bottom slot.
A CPU failure usually allows the POST screen.

This may work however i think by ignoring the sound of the Fan you might have destroyed the cpu and the motherboard. If you can try the processor in another machine you might just have to replace the motherboard only.
Good Luck

Hello,
There is one more thing I know you haven't tried yet. That is the CMOS battery. If that is bad, it would cause this problem. It's not a definite fix but it's something to try, it worked for me.

Thanks and good luck to you!

have you tried clearing the cmos memory? but put the jumper back to the correct position and the battery is not dead, then i would dissconnect everything so it would be left with psu plugged in to the m/board, cpu/fan,pwr switch nothing else except a speaker unless it has one built-in, you should hear some beeping from the speaker when you turn-on if not it`s dead R.I.P.

Computer is not working, changed power supply and is sti dead

Try to unplug the power cable from the system for 2 minutes and then turn the PC on.

If that does not work, then look for the battery of the motherboard, it would be like a coin. Use clippers and remove it for 2 minutes and put it back in and power the system.

If that does not work then try and remove the one RAM at a time and restart your system.

If all the above steps does not work, then you would have to replace your MB.
