Kenmore Dishwasher won't start

I have a Kenmore Elite dishwasher - model# 665.16933000 that does not react when I press the 'start' button. I can select wash cycles, and the appropriate time appears, but pressing the 'start' button doesn't kick it on, and after 30secs all lights go dead. Ran the diagnostic mode and all cycles seemed to work fine, even the heating coil was hot, and water was heard entering and draining. Assumed it was the control board, but have a suspicion it may be a bigger issue since the few cycles that did work, prior to it going dead, did not wash well and didn't even dissolve the detergent tablet (very unusual). Anybody have a solution for this problem? would like to hear from you. Thanks in advance.

I originally also thought this may be the issue, however, I ruled it out once I saw the diagnostic mode would not run with the door open, but DID run with the door closed. To me that was an indication the door circuit was in proper working order.

As for the suggestion of a faulty door latch control, I ruled it out once I saw the diagnostic mode would not run with the door open, but it DID run with the door closed. To me that was an indication the door circuit was in proper working order

Turning off the power to the unit overnight was the first thing I tried, unfortunately it didn't solve the problem.

Thanks for everyone's input. I tested the circuit board, and it does seem that part of the board is not receiving voltage. Very strange, since all the LEDs and even the diagnostic mode seems to be in perfect working order. The "Start" button control must be on the part of the board that's not functioning.

Here is a trick I have found on the net:
Try pushing the normal wash and heated dry buttons back and forth This will reset the dishwasher. Not shure if it for your model but it may work. Hope this helps! :}

Anyway, you'll have to take the door apart to the get to 'em. Once you do, look up top and they're located here. When you pull out the whole door latch assembly, it all looks like this here.
Kenmore Dishwasher won't start - 00092487.jpgNow, if one of these door switches are bad, you'll usually be able to see a burnt wire and one of the switches will be obviously AFU 'cause it won't click when actuated. 'Course, it's always a good idea to verify with your ohm meter. If one of the switches are fried, don't be a bonehead and just change the bad switch. Save yourself some trouble down the road (and avoid an unpleasant dishwasher fire) by changing both switches and the wire harness. You can buy the whole replacement kit here.

Next Most Common Troublemaker: Blown Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse is located in the control panel, called out as item #18 in this picture. You can check it with a simple continuity test.
Or you can jumper it out to see if the dishwasher will start running
normally. If it's bad, you can order your replacement thermal fuse here.

Hi thanks for replying and if its been turned of and made no differance then it could be on of a couple of things it could be that its got a build up of limescale in the jets causing the water pressure to rise and this causes the dishwasher to shut off as a safety feature.
If this is the case you can buy products that remove lime scale but it will require you removing all the jets and pipes to clean them through this could be your problem.
But it could also be a fault on the circuit board itself if this is the case then the board with the fault will need replacing.
How long have you had the dishwasher for??

Check all the cover is properly fit in when the dish is loaded, sometimes it can happen that some obstruction in closing the cover makes the washer won't start.

Thanks

You went to run the dishwasher see to it that you closed the door. If it didn't latchet and made sure the shelves were completely in or then tried shutting again. You checked that the door was closing and upper latchet was aligned.

Kenmore elite dishwasher model 630 Smart Wash light is flashing

You may want to try:
Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test.
Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.
Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel.
Check to make sure that there's no standing water in the bottom of your dishwasher. Standing water in your dishwasher may indicate that your dishwasher has stopped mid-cycle. You will need to press the "Cancel/Drain" button before you can reset your dishwasher control panel.

My kenmore elite ultrawash dishwasher, model # 665.16289402, will not start. The green clean light keeps blinking and when you go to push start after selecting which wash program it does nothing.

youll need to enter a diagnistic mode, press in this order, hi-temp(sani-rinse)----heated dry--hitemp---heated dry... all lights should light, close door and let cycle for about a min, htne press the cancelbutton, you should be good to go, the buttons on your model may read slighty different names, if this "toggle of buttons" does not work, you can remove thelower access panel and htere willl be a tech sheet/trouble shoooter behind the panel, in there it will explain how to enter diag/test mode

Kenmore Elite 15962990 will not start

So far, I'm not very impressed with this website. I posted a problem with a Kenmore Elite 15962990. FixYa emailed me back, saying: "We wanted to find out if you still need a solution for the Kenmore 24 in. 15932 Built-in Dishwasher Problem". So now I'm confused. I'm supposed to trust advice from somebody who can't even get the model number right? And FixYa keeps telling me I'm dealing with a top load clothes washer instead of a dishwasher.
Anyway, the problem still exists. I know there must be some way to reset it or put it in "maintenance mode". But none of the button sequences I saw online will work because my specific model does not have the buttons mentioned.
