Hi Elsie-
If you do not have the remote, you can change inputs by doing the following:
Changing inputs
Inputs are selected by using a number of methods, depending on the model of your Sylvania TV. Switching inputs is usually accomplished by pressing the "Input Select" button on the remote. Each press will simply cycle through each available input on your TV. If no remote is available, the front panel has a button that matches the function on the remote. This button is located on the bottom-right side of the TV and doubles as the "Enter" button when accessing onscreen menus.
On some TVs, you can change inputs by using a Source or Input button on the TV. These front panel buttons may be on the bottom of the TV bezel, on the right hand side or on the back on the right side as you face the TV. Once you locate the FPA buttons, you either press the Input button several times. Press the Select equivalent or just wait for the input to change. Alternatively, you need touse the Channel or Volume buttons (one pair becomes Up/Down, the other Left/Right) to navigate through the list. Then hit the button that gives the Select equivalent. A few models let you change inputs after pressing the Menu button on the TV and moving through the on-screen menu to a Source sub-menu. Not all TVs support this.
Please add a comment with the manufacturer and model of your TV for specifics that apply to your TV.
I hope this helps.

(Note: if you replace your remote control, check for a Source or Input button on the universal remote. Then try multiple codes for your TV brand to find a code that gives the input function properly.)
CogecoClick on the TV button near the top of the remote. Click on the video source button on the bottom left corner of the remote. Using the arrow keys to highlight/select the inputyou want. Some televisions may require pressing the source button multiple times to change the inputs.

The 27" TV uses the same instructions as the 20", and I found the manual for you at the link below. Answering your question directly, here is the section of the instructions about changing input:
-----
Changing the TV's Input
Normally, your TV displays the signal coming through the antenna terminal. However, if you've connected another component to your TV(such as a VCR & DVD) using the Video/Audio input, you will want to be able to view the signal from the component. To do this, you will need to switch from the ' TV ' input to the 'AV1-AV3, CVI' Input, as follows.
1 With the TV on, press the MENU button twice, then " Set-Up " menu will appear.
2 Use the WCHV buttons to select " Input ".
3 Press the CVOLB buttons to change the input source from ' TV ' to 'AV1, AV2, AV3, CVI'.
4 Wait 20 seconds, or press DISPLAY button or MENU button to return to normal TV viewing.
* CVI means the Component Video Input (Y/ PB/ PR) from the DVD player etc.* Users can also select these input modes with the TV/AV button or the INPUT button on theremote controller.
* On the AV1 mode , if you connect the S-VHS jack to your TV, "AV1" is changed to "S-VIDEO".

The link to the manual is below.
Use your TV remote to change the input away from S Video. There should be an Input button or Video Source button. Press this button repeatedly to cycle through the inputs. Depending on how your cable box is hooked up to your tv, your input will vary.
There should be a button on your remote denoting "Input." If you connect the DVD player to the TV on "video input 1" then push the input button on the remote or TV itself until the DVD appears on your TV (which will be Video 1). Some TVs must have the component (in your case) the "DVD" player connected to the TV before the TV will recognize it. Make sure the DVD is powered up and then push the input button until the DVD player appears on the TV. Depending on your TV inputs, there may be multiple inputs like, Video, Component, DVI, or HDMI. The above are listed in the respective order of "quality." HDMI being the best. Whatever input you hook the DVD player up to on the TV will be the "input" you will look for when pressing the input button. Hope this helps.
Did you hit the "input" or "video source" button by mistake on the remote or TV? That would change the input from the one the cable/video source uses. You're getting sound, so it's working......sounds as if the input was maybe changed. I'd hit the input/video source button a few times to go through all the available inputs and see if you get video back.
To change inputs on the TV, 90% of the time, it is done on the TV's remote control. Look for a marked button; 'video' or input. Press button to desired input. Other TV's have device/input buttons and will display on the TV's screen, scroll up or down, using the arrow buttons, once on desired input press the 'enter button.
GOOD LUCK, big IRISH. Come back with model number and I can be more particular, or e-mail me at [email protected].
Good Luck again.
Sounds like it is changing to another video mode that has no input so the screen is blue. On many tv's the channel buttons also act as video input button. This should happen with the buttons on the tv. If you are using the the remote I am not sure why it is acting like a video input button. Try changing video to tv with one and changing the stations with the other. I take it you are watching antenna tv and not using cable box or satellite. If this does not work and you have old vcr just use it as a tuner to change your channels.
