Check front switch jumpers, often if the power switch jumper is on the reset pins on the board will do this, otherwise check power supply, change it if it still does it i would say the power management on the board (ACPI) is corrupt or failed

I changed some BIOS settings for CPU speed and memory, now it wont boot - how do i reset the BIOS back when I cant get to the BIOS screen? Soyo K7V Dragon motherboard

Hi:) Turn the computer off but leave it plugged in so you have no static problems. Open the computer tower and on the motherboard near the Cmos Battery there is a blue or red jumper that covers 2 of 3 pins move it to the other side of the 3 pins for 30 seconds then put it back that will reset the bios to default.

What does three long beeps soyo sy-p4vgm indicate? Everything was running well. Powered down, powered up..beeps thanks

might be a faulty connection/lead make sure they have secure connections
test all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive also cd/dvd/3.1/2 inch floppy drive leads
hope this helps

2 beeps = memory problems. Since you get them even after the memory has been replaced then the problem is in the motherboard itself. Check the capacitors for bulging. If you can't find ones or you can't replace them then the motherboard is dead.

Hi Jopav1,

At the age of *********** board, I would recommend physically looking at the board, in particular, the large upright capacitors. If the tops are bulging, or have anything leaking out of them, send the board to a recycler, and look for an exact replacement on the used market, or replace with new. I just bought the same board you have today for $25, with AMD 1800 CPU.

At 10 years of age, the battery is probably past due for replacement too. It is a standard CR2032 3Volt battery. If you replace it quickly, you may not loose your BIOS settings.

If you have a volt meter, you can check your power supply voltages. Again, your manual will show what voltages to expect at each power connector pin. A range of +/- .05V is generally allowable on all sources.

Also try unplugging all boards and powering it up. The beep should change to a sequence of 2-1-3-1 beeps, indicating that it's not able to see the video card. If you still only get a repeated long beep, It's possible that the CPU itself may have died. These are also available very cheap at this point. The fact that you are getting a cycling beep indicates to me that the CPU is OK though.

I looked up beep patterns and did not find anything for one long repeating beep for the Phoenix BIOS on your board. There is no mention of them in the Soyo manual either.

Last resort is resetting your BIOS settings to "First Birthday", and try again. This will require you to re-set any manual settings you had set previously (probably 10 years ago). This is done by moving the jumper located between the green LED, and the battery, to the two pins nearest the LED, for a second, and then back to the position nearest the battery.

Good luck

SY-K7V DRAGON Plus no longer boots.

Try reseating the memory and restarting the PC. If that doesn't help and you have multiple sticks, try removing all but one, then cycle through to see if maybe you have a bad stick somewhere.

Need to reset Asus k7v bios

Yes, if you consult your motherboard manual this will show you the location of the cmos battery and reset jumpers. You can either move the jumpers from pins 1+2 to 2+3 and then back again after a few seconds or remove the cmos battery for a few seconds. Make sure your pc is off!
