Go hear, No I don't have shares in the company but its the only way I've found to remove a HDD Password leaving the data intact.

Reset the BIOS, to reset it there is a little opening for the bios reset of every laptop because in dsktop you will just remove the battery.

How to unlock toshiba satellite laptop BIOS and HDD

If you are the original owner Toshiba will reset the bios for a fee and it is not cheap, they may include the HDD reset, if not! www.ebay.com type password, or hard drive password. I would check bios password, probably a lot cheaper if you can find the right seller, also check www.download.com some software may be free.

My toshiba satellite c655 laptop has a black screen with a blue box asking for a current password

Sounds like the HDD password or Bios password got set.

You may need to talk to the person who set that password to be able to finish booting up the computer.

If that person is not available - you can call the Toshiba 1-800-457-7777. They may want to charge you for the over the phone support - but they should be able to walk you through how to get around the Bios or Hdd password if that is indeed your problem.

Please enter HDD1/SSD1 User password

If you get prompted for the HDD password when turning on the computer, and you do not know it you will need to call Toshiba support. Circumventing an HDD password is not an easy task.
Also there where Toshiba laptops, model 6100, that when the user was suddenly prompted for the HDD password Toshiba replaced the HDD under warranty.

You need to remember what the password is or take it to a Toshiba dealer who can fix it for you.

Hi

if you have just cleared the bios password
i think if you go back and do the same for the hdd password it should work

power up pressing F2 then use arrow keys to go to security and click on hdd password
and try to disable it

HDD PASSWORD problem

I have had this happen to me too, and found no other way to resolve this other than just reformat the hdd and reinstall the OS. If you search further, you might be able to find a simpler fix; but if not, reinstalling your Operating System will definitely fix your issue.
