Mine just wont turn on unless i plug it in to the computer
I dont know what to do. I've had it 2 months and it wont turn on unless i plug it in to the computer. Not to mention that it has the appearance of a broken screen on the upper half. i havent dropped it. or gotten it wet/
Re: mine just wont turn on unless i plug it in to the...
Mine had the entire screen lined out and the screen faded out over that day. Let the battery run down if you can, charge it. If you can't get the battery to run down then I don't know what to do.

Put a battery in it and hold down the play/power button like it says in the manual. If this doesn't work (mine didn't do this right away) plug it into the computer and see if it's able to communicate with your computer. If not, it's probably busted. I'd advise you to begin trying to get your money back: I'm on my second one of this brand (accidentally). The first lasted a month. This one never played a single song.
I think holding down menu and the record button at the same time should fix it. I read the best solution and it just turned on. I was having the same problem, mine would not turn on either but just try pressing and holding down the record and menu button for about 5 seconds.
If your Zen V wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
Zen V is dead "If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."
Mine does this too. I have no idea how to fix it but I think I have one about how it works. My power button broke about 4 mos ago when I dropped it on the floor in the cafeteria in highschool. I've seen that I'm not the only one who has this problem so it must be common. Anyways, it probably cannot initiate its own power from the battery with the button pushed in like that, so you might have to plug it in every time. I do this every day, and even tho its BS, its better than nothing :) When I go to do it and people ask me where I'm going, I say "I'm going to jump-start my mp3 player" because thats basically what you're doing. I know this is a whole hell of a lot of nothing but at least its a reason why it might do this.
