Speaker installation... i hav a 2007 ford f150 supercrew with standard 6x8 speaker openings in all 4 doors. i recently purchased jl audio zr650 component speakers. due to availability of the 6x8 version i had to settle on the 6.5 inch speakers. just curious as to whether installation of these speakers in the front doors will present any major problems and what the best way to go about it is.

First, no matter what, you need a manual and you need to READ IT.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Yamaha-RX-V1000RDS-Receivers-manual/id/319bh926/t/2/

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO). Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2

For convenience you could use the front panel VIDEO AUX connector if you want.

Check to make sure your wires aren't crossing on your speakers or if any of them are loose. Could easily be the cause for knocking out your speakers. That's the easy fix. Other than that it sounds like a computer issue. I'd take it back to where I got it from if it was me and it had only been two weeks.
I am kind of curious, though. Why aren't you using all seven channels? You really shouldn't leave channels open like that.

Pushing 4 ohm speaker systems

Officially this receiver supports only 6 and 8 ohm speakers. But for surround speakers it should not do any harm, because they are not played at full volume. But be sure to set yamaha for 6 ohm speakers.
Using only 4 ohm speakers makes the amplifier work more hard and produce more heat, that's why you can't use it at high volume.

Hook up patio speakers and use my cd/dvd/cable/ipod outside only

i'm not sure if this will work, but you could try connecting the rca stereo cables from you cable box to the cd input on the receiver those would be analog. then you could use the music channels at least. as for an ipod maybe sort of the same thing using an av cable instead of the dock;like i said i don't know if it will work but just a thought.

Echo when connecting Samsung Plasma to Onkyo TX-SR602

Make sure you have the tv volume turned right down as this will cause an echo, also set amp to prologic 2, and set up xover to suit your speakers or go for the THX standard of 80 hrtz and as a rule of thumb set front L,C,R speakers to zero rears to about +4or5 and your sub to -5[ dont know which speakers you have but try setting the subs on board volume to the 10,o,cloak position],also make sure the speakers -,+ are wired the same at the amp and speakers.

Hope this helps.

Proper input for TV audio signal

Do you have your DVD player running through your receiver? You want the red and white (audio) cables to go from your DVD player to your receiver and the yellow (video) cable to go from your DVD player to your TV. Separate the red, white, and yellow cable into separate strands if you need to, but be careful not to tear the insulation. They should pull apart fairly easily. If I'm totally off or you're using a coaxial or component video/audio cables or a fiber optic cable, let me know. Hope this helps
