Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

My DHA-S680 dvd changer will not playback any of the movies I load into the unit. After shuffling through the discs in the sleeve, the changer indicates that no discs have been loaded.

The disc may be bad, inserted upside down, or written in a format the DVD player can’t digest. However, if the player behaves like this with all DVDs, including ones that formerly worked in it, suspect a problem with the lens, laser, support electronics, or rotating hub assembly.

First, turn the power off and unplug the unit for a minute or two. Restart it and try the disc again. In a small number of cases, cycling the power like this will reset the electronics and solve the problem.

More likely, though, you’ll need to dig deeper. Try cleaning the DVD player’s laser lens with a high-quality cleaning disc from a consumer electronics store.

If this doesn’t do the trick, check with the player’s manufacturer for support options. Your player will likely need to be repaired or replaced. Its spindle may not be spinning the disc properly, or its laser may be failing to operate within parameters.

It probably needs a new magazine. The other possibility is that all of the discs are loaded upside down, but I'm sure that's that's not likely.

Hello suziorange and welcome to FixYa. I see your having issues getting your DVD player to playback movies which can be a few different issues. First I would say it could be dirty discs but that is not likely the case since you have been trying multiple discs. Secondly it's possible your laser lens inside the unit has become dirty and needs to be cleaned. This can be easily cleaned by unplugging your unit. Next remove the screws on the bottom and the back of the unit that hold the outer case of the unit on and then gently using a microfiber or other soft cloth to wipe the lens. You can use water or a lens solution if you wish however do not use alot as you do not want to risk getting any inside components saturated with liquid. Next replace the outer case and try to playback a DVD again. If none of the suggestions work I can tell you with almost certainty that your DVD drive has burned out which will require you to call customer service or just buy a new DVD player altogether which would probaly be the more cost effective option. I hope you found this information helpful and good luck. If you have any questions please use the comment box below and thank you for using FixYa.

Shows unkown disc when i put in a burned dvd-r but it will play a store boughten disc what disc format is compadible with yhis unit

This model DVD player can play the following disc formats:

DVD-Video (Region 1 or relevant region coded store-bought movies)

DVD-R (must be finalised on appropriate recording equipment for compatible playback)

CD-R (for jpeg/mp3 media files)

CD-RW (for audio such as mp3)

music CD (such as store-bought albums)

This player will NOT accept DVD-RW/+RW discs, or Blu-Ray.

I hope this helps you a tiny bit.

We dont have a remote but want it to play movies

I'm sorry to inform you that the Blu-ray player requires the remote to playback the blu-ray movies. You can playback normal DVD video disc which has auto play option. In order to go though the Menu items before start playing a Blu-ray DVD. Hence Remote is must..
Thanks for understanding..

Disc error "playback feature may not be available on this disc"

Hello arnita2211,

This error message is due to an improper format, that your dvd player can't handle. To correct this you need to use a program such as nero and in nero is a program called nero vision, that will recode the movie file into a dvd playable format.

You can download a trial of nero here
http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-nero9-trial.php
You will have to purchase a license when the trial ends. Sorry we cannot give you a serial key for this as it is Illegal.

Thank you for trying Fixya!
