So what is the point of setting a time and date if you can't get it to print on the pictures??

  • miscas Jan 12, 2009

Wish I'd read these before I purchased the Cyber-shot DSC-W150 which has the same problem. I did work out how to insert the date, but contacted Sony to see if there was a way to do it for a batch of photos and not just individually. They replied, to paraphrase, that it is a good idea not to have the date inserted automatically! Is anyone out there from Sony taking any notice of forums where there are so many people complaining about the tedious process of printing the date on their photos - have they tried to do it on 200, 100 or even 50 photos? Obviously not. How about updating the Picture Motion Browser with two options - automatically insert the date on all photos, or don't insert the date. Surely that wouldn't be too hard!

This camera doesn't give you the option to have the dates on the pictures. The manual says there is a Picture Motion Browser software that comes with the camera that could do it.
Hope that helps.

Is there a way to not have to insert date on each picture manually? What a headache. What is the point of the date and time feature? Waste of time. It is probably too late for me to return it.

Wow my apologies. I went to Sony live chat and asked how to put the date on pictures that I was saving to MY COMPUTER and was told I would have to use something like MS Paint and put it on each picture manually. But then I went to Picture Motion Browser and you can edit and insert date. Yes it is tedious but there is an advantage to it. You have a choice of 4 colors and 4 positions to put the date. On my DSC-W5 the date is always in the bottom right corner and always in yellow and if that corner happens to be yellow, you can't see it. Also pulled up some pictures other people had sent me and used insert date and it put the date on those appears to be the date the picture was actually taken and not the date that I saved it to my computer but it knew where to sort each picture in my MyPictures folder. PS on the above, I tried select all but could not put the date on all at one time, plus you have to click on save after every date insertion....

Also face same problem with dsc-w90. I've tried Picture Motion Browser and it works. But problem is it has to be made for each image/picture and this is very troublesome. Is there a way to do it in batch or in group?

I would like to have the date print on my pictures, can you help me.The date shows on the camera

Hi kcrdnl264,

The camera records the date/time with the image file but will not imprint it over the image. That's done when you print the picture. Consult your printer manual and/or the manual for the printing software.

1. If you simply want to see the date and time on the screen, press up/down while reviewing your pictures until you get the view you want.

2. If you want the date and time printed on the pictures, that needs to be done in whatever program you use to print. For example, Nikon ViewNX has a "Print Photo Information" check box in its Print dialog.

Note: The camera is not going to damage your pictures by imprinting date and time on any portion of the image. It will record that information (and a lot more), but its priority is on getting the image data.

Hope it helps.

Thank You for using Fixya.

I have a Nikon Coolpix s560. I want to shut off the date/time stamp imprint that it makes. I take pictures of my art with it and cannot have time stamps in the picture.

Welcome to FixYa,

You can disabled the Date Imprint. In this option you can print your pictures without the date and time printed on it.

All you have to do is set the Date Imprint on its default setting or setting it on OFF
Just go to Set up Menu and look for the Date Imprint and set it to OFF.

There are other option where the Date Imprint will be disabled.

- When the Continous Mode is set to Continous or BBS
- When the Scene mode is set to Sports, Museum, or Panorama assist.
- When movies are being recorded.

Hope this information will help you and can answered your question.

Thank you for using FixYa.

As far as I have experienced, there is no setting for imprinting the time/date directly into the pictures. There is an option to print pictures with time/date, see user manual page 51, point 5.
You can however manually imprint pictures with any decent graphic program, looking at the timestamp of your pictures.

I want to set my time date setting so it will be recorded on my pictures. Thank you

You will probably find that this not possible. The date and time are recorded in the EXIF information with each photograph all the time but not actually in the picture at all.

Date and time not appear on the pictures

You must have the pictures printed at a Camera Store / Kiosk to have the date imprinted. Very few cams have that feature built in anymore

I accidentally set the date imprint on my camera. I'm wondering if there is a way to get the date taken off of the front of the pictures I have already taken.

From the manual, "Imprinted dates form a permanent part of image data and cannot be deleted."

The best you can do it to make sure that Date Imprint is turned off for future pictures. The camera still records date/time info into each picture file, and many printing programs can imprint that onto the picture at printing time. The good ones print it on the back, so as not to interfere with the image. Either way, you can always add the date to the picture, but you can't remove it once it's there.

Unable to imprint date on pics with my sony cybershot dsc-h50

should work if your setting it up right. The date looks awful anyway. it will be right on the front. then you can't get rid of it on the picture. I took my date off. Ruined a few good pictures with the date right in the way.
