Do you have the Mac Mapsource, if not you'll need to aquire one from garmin, most units are shipped with the windows software.

How do I install maps on my GPS?

First you need to have Mapinstall app on your computer

Once MapInstall is installed, to load maps:
  1. Connect the Garmin device to the computer
  2. Open the MapInstall program
    • MapInstall appears in the Start menu or Start screen on Windows
    • MapInstall appears in the Applications folder on a Mac
  3. Select the device or SD card
    • If all compatible map products installed on the computer will fit completely on the selected device, MapInstall will give options to Send Maps (Mac)/Continue (Windows) or Customize
      • Send Maps/Continue will send all the maps that will fit on the device
      • Customize will allow the selection of individual map products
      • Advanced/Partial Install will allow sections of the map products to be sent without sending the whole map product
    • If all map products installed on the computer will not fit completely on the selected device, MapInstall will give the option to Continue
      • This will allow the selection of individual map products
      • Advanced/Partial Install will allow the selection of individual sections of the map products
    • If loading the map to a SD card or an older Garmin device, MapInstall will give the option to Continue
      • MapInstall will allow the selection of individual sections of the map products - similar to the Advanced/Partial Install option
  4. Click Send Maps (Mac) / Continue (Windows)
  5. Click Confirm (Mac) / Install (Windows)
  6. Click Done (Mac) / Finish (Windows)1

Garmin nuvi 270 shuts down when connecting to mac for map update

I've had exactly the same problem. Eventually I discovered it was the SD card. Take that out and it should work fine. You can re-insert the card once the Mac has found the device.

Nuvi 765T doesn't recognize preprogramed SD card City Navigator Europe NT

Did you get this working? You may only need to access the menu and choose Maps and select deselect the current maps and select the Europe CNNT maps to get them to display.

If you need additional help - leave a comment.

I recently purchased the Nuvi260 lifetime map update - all maps don't fit on the nuvi. I added a 4GB Sandisk and installed it in the expansion slot. The map updater doesn't allow me to use the...

To use the extra SDCARD storage for your map should work. It's a bit of a complicated area to pull this through and requires quite a bit of reading to get it done.

Basically the install can be done from a PC / Mac with the Garmin Maps installed on there. From the Mac/PC it's installed on the SDCARD in your NUVI.

Below you find the link to Garmin's forum - read the posting where it says "Reply from Garmin International". It contains a PDF with all instructions in there. Register at Garmin's forum to download the PDF - this is the same Username/Password as used with registering the Nuvi at Mygarmin.com.

Map Install to SD-card

As an extra remark - please note that installing Garmin Maps on a PC for use with Mapsource requires at least 5Gb of disk space of the C-drive. When this is a problem - here's a way around clearing disk space on a PC for Garmin Map install.

No Maps found on TomTom One XL

You were able to successfully download windows files with your Mac and transfer them to your Tom Tom? I'd suggest trying the transaction again, but doing it with a windows machine. (Trust me, I have a Mac and I realize how unwell it likes to play with Windows.) {But I wouldn't trade it}

I dont know how to update my GPS to down load maps on it?

TomTom has probably the easiest solution -- you can update and download maps via their TomTom Home software, which works on both PC and Mac. http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/ or you can check this link ... http://www.gps-software-hub.com/2007/11/world-gps-map-database-download-over.html hope this helps appreciate by rating it
