Question about Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer
I have a whirlpool calypso and sometimes i get a code LS and FS. most times it will not drain the water from the basin. can you please help me with this problem
If you have the older model pump motor it is a devil to clean out. the newer one you detach the hose at the U point over the motor itself and pick out the lint build up that stops the pump from spinning and pulling water through.

Sounds like you may have the same problems I had with mine. My LS problem apparently happened shortly after I decided to wash this mophead that I used to wash my car with. The type that goes on a stick. It wasn't very large, but apparently it was enough to defuzz and plug up the u-joint. I ended up stripping that piece by constantly trying to drain it. Taking the back off was a pain because the water made this a beast to move. That is also when I learned to have a couple of buckets to catch that nasty water. I ended up flooding my floor w/dirty water. What I then should've done was to check to see that the black drain tube was clear of obstruction. IAfter removing the u-shaped plastic,I found it was jammed w/the cotton mop head threads. I figured that this had defuzzed enough and ran it thru again a few weeks later. It happened again! I realized after checking the black draining tube-looks corrugated that it was filled with dimes, pennies and broken buttons. Of course,I had replaced the ushaped water pump again since it was stripped again. Also,
I strictly wash my clothes with He detergent. If the flowsenor senses that there is too much suds, it'll give the FS code. It's not worth eyeballing the amt. of soap to use. Also, it will probably help to clean your washer out once a month-if you do a lot of laundry. Your clothes will get cleaner especially if there is build-up. I get this from the service dpt. It comes in a white bottle. THey'll know what your asking about. But it's been about 2 years since I've had to do anything with the washer. Maintainance goes a long way for this washer.
