Question about HP LaserJet 2840 Printer
I get that message above. What do i have to do, replace the scanner portion?
Everything I'm seeing related to a 'scanner error' is saying to contact HP for service ...
You could try turning everything off (printer, computer) unplug the printer from the a/c power and the computer; wait a minute or two, and plug it all back in and restart.
Also, after you've double-checked that your cables are not old/damaged (try a new cable that you know is working -- like from another machine) to hook up to your computer -- and to rule out that it's not the computer port, you could try plugging it in to another port and see if you don't get the same results).
If none of that works, I'd check with HP -- if you're out of warranty, make sure the cost of repair is worth it --
