To change the preset home location on your street pilot follow the below instructions (at least it worked for me)
1. Select the "Where to?" icon & choose "My Locations" then "My Favorites" icon
2. Locate "Home" & select it, then touch "edit" on the bottom of the screen & choose the option "delete"
(If there is anything else in there saved delete those things as well)
3. Once the preset "home" has been deleted, go back to "Main Menu" select the "Where To?" icon & select the "go home" icon.
4. The device will now prompt you to enter the new location for "Home"

Are you outside, exposed to the GPS signals?

If so, have you tried resetting the unit?

Remove the face cover (GENTLY pry it loose by using the fingernail groove directly under the GARMIN logo), press the RESET button, then re-attach front cover... this is covered in the owners manual, also available online at garmin.com /support /downloads

With a normal GPS device, when you first switch it on, it needs some time to locate enough satelites. Most of the time it needs at least 5 satelites. Some time should be like minutes and not hours. After the GPS device fond enough satelites, it knows where it is and can when it is switched on again work faster. When you try to let the GPS search for satelites indoors, or without a free view to the sky, it is possible the receiver never can find satelites at all.
I don't know if any test of the Lowrance iFINDER Hunt GPS was placed on the net, but that is where you can check how long it should take for the GPS to find enough satelites.

TOMTOM GO LIVE 2050 problem with TOMTOM Server

Have you been able to get satellite connections (signals) when you're outdoors ? and not under/around tall buildings or overhanging obstructions.
Regularly get QuickGPSfix update (using TomTom HOME) to download the latest satellite positions (for the next 7 days), to enable your GPS to find the satellites quicker.

My tomtom keeps losing satelites , what can i do

A TomTom GPS Devices requires a minimum of at 4 satellites in order to triangulate your position. Losing signal can be caused by many different factors such as your in an area with tall buildings or trees, unable to connect to at least 4 satellites, or possibly that the device hasn't been used in a long time. Besides simply exchanging it to resolve the issue TomTom has a feature called QuickGPSFix which determines where the GPS satellites will be located for the next 7 days. This feature is not yet available for MyTomTom but it will either be added by the On Device automatic updates when it is available or for advanced users you can use a Bluetooth connection with a compatible mobile phone.

On your TomTom Device go to TomTomServices > Tap Download QuickGPSFix. Almost any phone is compatible especially newer SmartPhones. Hopefully this helps you resolve your issue.

Rino 530 keeps loosing signal was hunting in Canada using rino while walking . keeps saying no satalite

The GPS needs a clear view of the sky and at least 3 or more satellites to get a fix on your position. If you are under a heavy canopy of tree cover / brush, it can affect accuracy and even the GPS's ability to get a fix at all. Also, if you are in a mountainous region, the geometry of your location and the location of the satellites over the equator could be obstructed, resulting in the lost satellite messages. You must have an unobstructed view of the southern sky to get a fix.

If you are able to get a fix in an open area, the GPS is able to do its job, but the location you're trying to use it in is offers too much interference to capture satellite signals.

Making sure you've got the latest firmware from Garmin can solve a lot of troubles, too. If you still believe that your GPS isn't working the way it should, contact Garmin Support.

I hope this helps - and good luck. Please rate my reply - thank you.

Tom Tom 540 can't find satellite signal for past hour

The problem can be fixed by resetting the tomtom one xl gps receiver. Tomtom one xl gps receiver is common with this problem, after resetting it, it is most likely it will happen again. So be ready to keep resetting over time.
It most like is as a result of bad strength to search and detect the satellite. So you have to adjust the antenna also to a area where it can pick signals easily. This is quite uneasy because the areas to locate the satellite varies in terms of the location you are.
Software update will not fix this problem as well as the quickgpsfix, so the bes solution is for you to keep resetting it. Hope this helped. Thank you for using fixya.

I have a Maxx Digital explorer GPS .It keeps reading "unable to locate Satalite".Any Idea's?

You should be able to set it to track more than one satellite, my garmon can track up to 20 at a time, and it's over 5 years old. Go into your satellite settings and see how many satellites you are currently tracking. Also if you are having extremely over cast conditions this coud happen, but should clear up, eventually. Try setting it to track the maximum number of satellites and see if this resolves your problem.

Try answering yes. If the original location has been lost due to battery replacement etc, These devices go to a home location which may be anywhere to begin looking for the satelites. It could take 30 minutes or more to locate itself. Just turn it on and let it look for a long time.

Please be sure the Operating system is up to date.

GPS wont aquire a satellite

Hello there and happy new year
If Your Unit Cannot Acquire Satellite Signals
  1. For your Garmin GPS unit to acquire the satellite signals it needs to function properly, the unit must be taken outside, away from mountains, tall buildings and heavy foliage where it can get a clear view of the sky. Keep the unit stationary for several minutes while the GPS unit acquires the necessary satellite signals. It may take several minutes for the unit to locate a good solid signal
  2. OK
  3. Hope this is very helpful please keep me posted on this ok?
    Best regards Michael
